i found out today that i was accepted into the absn program ... but the news is bittersweet as i have decided not to attend because of finances. univ of miami is one of the most expensive schools to which i applied. the scholarship deadline has technically passed (today) and i can't in good faith place a deposit on a school where my receipt of a scholarship is uncertain for months (and taking out so much in loans is something i am unable to do or accept). also, i won't be able to commit to be in miami for 3 years thereafter per the scholarship if i were to get it. but i am happy to know that i have what it takes to get into a competitive nursing program.

good luck to all of you who got in and are still waiting. sorry to let you know that i won't be joining you in this journey, but in the long run we will all be connected as nurses. i will continue to hope for good news with my other schools.

By mail .. but I was not home. Someone was checking the mail for me and I had them open the letter they said was from U of Miami.

HI all! I just sent in my application. I am so surprised that everyone is ahead of the game and submitted their applications already. Can I ask what the turn around time was from when you submitted the application until you heard back?

now that you have all been accepted, I am getting nervous!

What are my chances to get into this program with a cumulative GPA: 3.45 and a Pre-req GPA: 3.70... I applied by the March 1st deadline, does anyone know by when I would be notify? Also can anyone tell me their experience on getting into the program as well as their gpa and pre-req gpa they were accepted with?

when did you guys send in your applications

nycgal, which program are you applying into, may 2011 or jan 2012? there is another thread on this site regarding the fact that there are two conflicting websites with 2 conflicting deadlines. i believe in december they changed the august 2011 start date to jan 2012 and also changed the application deadlines. i applied dec 1st for early decision and because one of my college transcripts from a class i took in hs wasnt in on the 1st, i wasnt considered for early decision and still have yet to receive a reply.

kyle123, again you probably saw the old website with the march 1st deadline..from reading these posts before..it looks like typical turn around time was about 4-6 weeks for early decision...they send out decision letters on a weekly basis, but my admissions advisor said i would receive a decision by april 15th and i applied dec 1st my B.S. degree GPA was 3.52, my pre req gpa is a 4.0 (i am taking chemistry right now and also have a 4.0 in that class)

am going crazy waiting...but will let you guys know how long it takes before i get my letter. im at 3 months of waiting now :crying2:

OP on this thread! Decided to pop in to congratulate everyone who got into the summer class! If you did not know already, I did get accepted to Miami but I declined their offer. The tuition is way beyond what I am capable of comfortably paying. So, some lucky person on the waitlist got my seat, well-deserved I am sure (I hope anyway!) ... I have since been accepted to ABSN programs @ UCF and Stony Brook (NY) and have an interview this Fri with UNF so we shall see which school will soon be my BSN-granting school!
