UF Accelerated BSN, Summer 2018

U.S.A. Florida

Hi all!

It's pretty early on but I'd love to meet and chat with the potential applicants for this program. I also think it'd be great to have this forum in case we stumble upon application questions and such. Maybe some successful applicants in the past may pop in to say hello as well!

What are your feelings about this program or even UF in general? Are you applying to other programs? Where are you from?

I completed some prerequisites in Dec but I still cannot update my transcript in nursingCas. Also I did not receive the assessment. Does anyone know the reason or in the same situation?

same here and it will not let me update on nursingcas I just tried today. and no assessment

Are we supposed to update fall grades on NursingCAS? I just sent an official transcript to UF again and figured that'd be enough since the application was closed. I didn't think you could add after that?

Just like you said, the program is really new so they are still experimenting on their curriculum, and unfortunately my cohort and the previous one are the guinea pig.

We have to teach ourselves 90% of the time because the materials are too much. The professors are divided, with half that doesn't really care about the students and the other really cares about us. Get ready to read at least of 5 - 10 chapters (for pathophysiology class and also med-surg class) every week. Each exam will cover at least of 10-20 chapters.

I really enjoy my hospital clinical, the preceptors really wants to teach you and they will show you a lot. Clinical are divided into hospital and community clinical. The hospital clinical professors are awesome and they care about your experiences during clinical time. The only good thing that I can say about this program is the clinical experience. Being a UF students, you have priority at UF Health. They will teach you the EPIC EHR, they prefer UF students when the time comes for finding a job.

Community clinical professor still trying to figure out what to do with her life as a professor thus screwing us as the students.

As Jacksonville cohort, be ready to be the step-child of UF College of Nursing. I heard they are going to try better for next cohort, which means that my cohort already got screwed. :) So lucky for you all!

Recommendation:

1. put yourself out there during clinical. If you don't like the preceptor, tell your professor and they will find another preceptor. Ask a lot of questions, ask if you can do stuffs (you are not allowed to administer any medicine until your 3rd semester, but some preceptors will allow you to do it because they want you to learn. Some will go by the book and will not allow you to administer med).

2. Be able to learn by yourself outside class, because lecture time will only cover about 20% of the materials.

Awesome information! Thank you for taking the time to help us out!

Thats a really good question. Have you asked Kenneth about that?

when did you complete your application? I was a little later than most of you on completing my application due to waiting for my last recommendation letter and I haven't gotten an assessment. I asked Kenneth if my application was no longer being considered and he wrote back you will know about your application soon

I completed mine only a few days before the submission date due to the same reason but still got the assessment. I think it may be something like what "Idkmybffjill" said that you may have been missing something or accidentally got skipped over. I think if you emailed Kenneth he may be looking into the reason for this. Sorry that you have to deal with this! :-(

I tried emailing Kenneth about if we have to update NursingCAS, but all he mentioned was for us to send our updated final transcript to UF.

Ok! Thanks! :-)

When did you write Kenneth? I'm scared to continually e mail him. My grade for a&p is being changed to an A so I have to wait to send my transcript until it's final.

That was this past Tuesday when he replied. I replied making sure nothing has to be done with NursingCAS, and he has not replied.

I completely forgot about this chat, so glad it still exists!

Hello! I appreciate you jumping in on this chat. If you don't mind me asking, I would be a lil interested to know a bit about your stats that gained you admittance. GPA, teas, etc. Theres just no data to compare to which is driving me insane haha
