Starting a thread for others applying to this program!

No problem ginune00! That's a great TEAS score don't worry! Good luck! MamaKate, I'm not positive because I was already at UCF when I applied, but you need to take the TEAS some where else because you aren't a student here. I think semimole state offers the test, so I would assume valencia does too? There are a lot of public testing centers.

I know Valencia does too. But I'd have to pay a little extra for them to send the scores to UCF

And do you know anything about the new interview portion of the admission process?

Unfortunately, I don't; we are all curious about it as well actually because this is the first year they're doing it! My impression is don't stress out about it. I think just gpas and teas scores are all very close, they're just looking to ensure you're genuine about nursing and representing their program. We've had a handful of people leave the program already during this semester for silly reasons which could've been addressed prior like what to expect and the strong commitment you have to make because it is so intense and time consuming!

Thats what i figured it would be like. Ive also heard from someone else that they want to know that you work well as a team.

Hey guys, I was recently accepted to UCF nursing for the coming spring semester and I was in the first interview group. Like Go Knights had explained, the interviews are to prevent the large drop rates that the school has been having. People drop because they realize that nursing isn't a desk job; it's a very hands on job that requires a lot of demanding and somewhat unsanitary work (working with poop, catheters, blood, etc.). UCF takes double the amount of people that they accept and reject the rest and everyone else either gets accepted or wait-listed. The purpose of the interview is to meet the people behind the grades so that they can reject the ones who they think will drop and keep the ones who they believe will stay for the long haul. They also look for qualities that would work with both a cohort for a class and a team for a floor. Qualities such as team building, a good personality, and knowing that you're good at socializing are some examples. They explained that your performance in your interview combined with your existing scores that you submitted on your application will be the final cutoff for who gets in and who gets put on the wait-list.

Thanks for your input. A lot of students apply and don't know what they have signed up for.

Mamakate - Go Knights is incorrect. I've scheduled my TEAS at UCF for two weeks from tomorrow. I'm not currently enrolled, but I'm applying for Readmission (I'm an Alumni) to the ABSN program (and maybe the Basic one also if I need to?). The testing center is in Howard Phillips Hall (due West of Millican) on the ground floor. The corner closest to the library. $65.

So you can register and take the TEAS there without being admitted?

Yup, I dropped my check off on 11/6. They called me two weeks later to schedule as I told them on 11/6 I wanted to take it as late as possible in December, so I would have a 30 day gap to take it again in late January, as the ABSN (and regular BSN) deadlines are soon after in early February.

Oh alright. Well that's good to know.

I hope interviews serve their intended purpose! It's a little frustrating knowing that I've been waitlisted twice and that there are people who drop the program mid-semester for silly reasons. I was waitlisted for the SSC concurrent program starting this Spring. If I can't get in I will apply to that in Fall again as well as the UCF generic program.

I applied to this program last year with a 3.4 pre-req, 3.6 overall, and 92% Teas. This time I'm applying with a 3.5 pre-req, 3.7 overall, and 92% Teas. I hope that's competitive enough for this cycle!
