UCF 2013 Fall-Orlando generic BSN applicants?

U.S.A. Florida

Starting a thread for others applying to this program!

I'm hanging in there, just trying to keep myself busy. And same here, my plans ride on this decision too. It's my first choice school.

The waiting is driving me nuts. This is my ONLY choice school. I got shot down for 13 PA programs this year (1300 applicants for a 30 seat class, yeah right, I didn't have a chance...) and nursing school is pretty much my Hail Mary Pass. I work in such a niche job, it would be hard for me to find another one without taking a major dive in pay and probably needing to move, hence the hope to make the jump into medical. I'm hoping to get through the accelerated, then apply the following year to the Nurse Practitioner program.

Well the first two weeks of waiting went by kinda fast for me lol

4-6 left :yay:

I applied the first day the application opened so the wait's been a little extra longer for me! I'm also ready to apply to the Seminole concurrent program when that opens. Fingers crossed :) Hope to hear about interviews soon.

I'm very very thankful for this forum! I'm applying to both accelerated and basic BSNs for this cycle. The waiting is horrible! But the nervous energy is helping me get a lot more done at work. I'm presently taking the nutrition and HIV class at UCF, so hopefully that will help out a little.

Has anyone had mix-ups with their applications? I was emailed telling me my fingerprints and background check weren't in, but I did them in December. Then got a call saying, nevermind, my name was mixed up with two other people. Getting really nervous that something like that would keep out. Has anyone had similar experiences?

I got an email saying my fingerprints were not accepted by the FBI the first time I did them and they sent me to take them again! 45 min drive!

My stats:

GPA: 3.75

Prereq: 4.0

TEAS: 86

This is my only choice.. I checked out a few other schools like the Florida hospital college and I wasn't excited.. I applied for Fall and I guess we won't know if we're accepted until after the April 12 interview.. Fudge :/

I know what you mean. Orlando did not have many competitive choices. I went to a smaller school for my masters and had a difficult time finding work because people saw it as less competitive. But I guess with nursing, a license is a license? I want the accelerated program, but I applied to both and I am hoping to get into the honors track.

It's tough though, the timeline is pretty short! You have only one time to apply per year. There is only three weeks in between the interview for the acc track and the basic. I'm sure a lot of people applied to both. So, I bet that you have to wait until the very end to get the letter for the basic interview, to see how many dropped out of the pool from the accelerated group.

Well, 14 days until the deadline for accelerated invite letters. 28 days for basic. 73 days until summer program starts. (I have a countdown app, I'm not Rain Man)

This also is my first choice, but if I don't get in I'm going for the concurrent program with Ucf/Vc. And if not that either I have the Vc program in fall 2013 then I'll transfer to Ucf.

I made sure I had multiple back up plans just to be safe because I don't want to rely on one program then be stuck if it falls through.

I also applied to UF and if I don't get into that or this one then I'll start applying elsewhere after decisions are made. I could only afford to apply to two right now. It adds up with all the application fees, paying to send transcripts, background checks, TEAS etc....

I love UF. That's where I did undergrad. Shands is amazing there. I would have applied but during my application process, my husband got a job that couldn't transfer and is not something he should walk away from. Looks like I'll be in Orlando for a while. If I had gotten into PA school, it would have just been me and kiddo moving there. So in a way, I'm kind of glad that didn't work out. Let's hope nursing school has better promise. I'm totally ready to trade the counseling office for a stethoscope. What did your scores look like?

I'm 3.25 GPA overall/4.0 prereq/92 TEAS/ BS Psych, MS Psych (I'm grumpy UCF doesnt look at grad GPAs, it would have been a serious bump up for mine)

I guess UCF is my backup in a way.. I applied for University of Miami first with a 3.9 overall and was accepted. All good until I looked at the big picture and cost of 40k a year +.. Even with financial aid it was not even an option.

And psychology is an interesting field and that experience will definitely benefit you in any career but especially in nursing, in my opinion..
