Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

Hello everyone!

I found this UCF thread, and thought I'd add to it.

I have a BS in psychology, and am a licensed CNA (though I haven't found work yet). My overall undergrad GPA is around 3.55. If I add that to the prereq classes I recently took at a CC after receiving my undergrad, I think my GPA goes up to around 3.66. My prereq GPA is 3.75, and I scored a 92% on the TEAS.

A good site for TEAS practice is TEAS® Exam Practice Questions - Help your Test of Essential Academic Skills™ Score with free unofficial Preparation Materials for the TEAS® Test, and in case you haven't seen it yet, someone posted their study tips on allnurses (one of the most helpful resources): https://allnurses.com/teas-exam-help/how-i-studied-531994.html

Let me know if anyone needs any TEAS advice, or anything else!

Hi everyone. How is everyone doing? Just to get everyone excited... We'll be applying to the program in just two months. :)

As of today, the application date for ABSN begins on Jan 1st and ends on Feb 1. They started a new process of admission that involves interviewing potential candidates.

I will post so info soon in regards to the interview process which just took place yesterday for basic program for cocoa and Daytona beach campuses. One of my friends went through the whole process so Im hoping to hear some juicy details soon.

Other then that, I'm just pushing through the semester here at UCF and seriously, I can't wait to be done with all the prerequisites.

Have a happy Halloween!!!

I just hope I feel as eager to get TEAS out of the way as you will with getting prereqs done (that is a good feeling, I will say that at least!) :)

Looking forward to your Interview gossip you gather, thanks in advance. :D

Hey everyone! I'm also applying for the 2013 accelerated program at UCF. I got my BS from UF in '07 in hospitality management and worked in the medical field as an optometric tech and in the hospitality industry for a few years as well. After having my son last year I realized nursing, and specifically hoping to become a CNM, is what I most want to do. I have 4 of the prereqs done currently, am enrolled in 3 right now (A&PI, Microbio, and Nutrition) at Valencia and will be taking A&PII next semester. I have A's in all of my prereqs right now and I think they'll stay that way which would make my overall stats: 3.78 prereq GPA, 3.55 overall GPA, and 87 on the TEAS. I'll be retaking the TEAS first week of January at UCF since I want to bring my score above a 90. I took it at the beginning of this semester before I took A&P so I'm hoping having these classes under my belt will help improve my score.

Looking forward to having all of you on here to go through the application process with and hopefully we'll all be in class together in May!

Hi everyone!

I found this thread and decided to reply as well!

I currently attend the University of Florida, hence my screen name :p. Last year I received my Bachelors in Health Science, and I am currently completing my Masters in Health Education & Behavior (which I will be done with in May, yay!)...I am also applying to UCF and it is one of the top schools on my list. It is closer to home, and I have heard good things about the program. My undergraduate (B.S) degree was a 3.45...I am not sure what my pre req GPA is, I haven't calculated it, but I believe its around a 3.5. As of now, my MS gpa is a 4.0, but won't know for sure until final grades are in. I have not taken the TEAs test yet, but will be taking it soon. I am hoping to do well on it, as well as, I'm hoping having a Masters degree will help me some too :).

I see that there are a couple of UCF students on this forum and I was wondering what you guys think about the school? I don't really know much about it at all.

Also I saw someone post that there are interviews. Thats exciting and nerve wracking as well. Are any of you applying to other schools?

1) I'm a UCF grad from 2003... haven't attended in a few years (I work right next to it though)... but do you have any particular questions?

2) UCF is my #1 since I live here presently, UNF is my #2 since theirs is 51 credits compared to UCF's 59. But I'd still rather stay here so I don't have to move, even if it's 8 more credits. USF is my #3 but don't want to move there either, plus theirs is 69 credits (why?)

Welcome to our thread. :D

Hi guys,

I need some help. I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. I want to apply to the UCF Accelerated BSN program but need to take 2 more prerequisites. How do I go about doing that? Do I apply as an Undergraduate 2nd degree seeking student or Graduate non-degree seeking student? Thanks soo much for all the help!

I just registered at Valencia to take the courses and then had my transcripts sent to UCF.

You must have at least 7 of the 8 prereqs done prior to the deadline. I believe if you have to take 2 prereqs in Spring 2013 you are ineligible to apply. :(

Hi everyone,

So application to ABSN is officially open for submission. I requested the application sometime in December to familiarize myself with the whole process and its content and of course with certified background.com procedures that college of nursing will ask every single one of us to submit. All in all it is NOT so bad once you read through everything carefully.

I have submitted my background order and did my fingerprints by the end of December so hopefully college of nursing has my info by now.

What's left for me is really to fill out the actual application and submit it by the end of January. The actual deadline is Feb 1st at 11:59 pm lol

But hey, who wants to wait that long, right? ;)

Wish you all good luck with submitting your applications and please feel free to share anything on here so we can help each other out.

Also, If you apply to both accelerated and basic programs, you do NOT have to pay $90 twice to submit background information at certifiedbackroung.com. It was a bit confusing to me because college of nursing sent me 2 separate emails for each program with information and appropriate codes for background check. Long story short, I called college of nursing and was told that once you do it for one program, there is NO need for submitting background info (hence, using another code) for another program of your interest because CON will already have your profile on their file.

Also, fingerprints process is SO EASY. They make you pick the closest UPS location, set an appointment and you're in and out within 10 min.

Best of luck!!

:)

Oh. Another thing is that the interview for accelerated program has been schedule for March 22nd. This probably means that we should be getting email whether we are invited and seriously considered to be offered a spot or denied by March 15.

As far as the basic program go, the interview date said TBD.

My first choice is ABSN, but I am also applying to basic just in case.

Good day to everyone.

Hey Nursowiczka2b,

Just received my e-mail with the information to complete the application! So excited!

I have a question about the background check though.. It says two different times that we need background checks in the "How to Apply" section on the nursing website. Did you just do one background check through certifiedbackground.com and send it to the CON?

Also, when you did your fingerprints, how did you send that to the college? Does UPS send them once the results come back?

Good luck during the application process! I am so excited to finally start this process!
