Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

They said by next Friday we should know. Hopefully sooner though.

I didn't think the interview was that bad! I was at the 9:30am arrival / 10am interview slot. I was very impressed with my group, I think they all did extremely well and seemed relaxed, I'm hoping I came off that way too! And now for the real fun of waiting to hear our fates...good luck everyone!

This whole process is just nerve racking! You guys were anxious for the interviews, but at least that's behind you now! This next week should go by fast lol

It wasn't that bad. The panelists were very approachable and smiling, and all of the candidates in my group did a great job.

Good luck everyone. :)

On the bright side, at least you know you're wait listed and still have a shot at the basic program... :)

It was a little disorganized for the first group, but alright. People were easy to talk to. I think there were 3 strong candidates in my group and two people who were less prepared. I hope that is going to make the selection process easier...

What do you think made them be less prepared? Did they seem nervous?

Also, do u think that they will just kind of weed out 2 candidates from each 5-person group?

From what I gathered when the guy talked to us this morning was that we will all get a score and it will be added to the rest of the points from teas and Gpas...

Hello all! I was in the 11:00 interview. I was the only one with red pens... LOL! I thought that the interview went well and that all of the candidates in my group did a good job. Now here comes the waiting game again!!!

Good luck to you all!!!!! I hope you all hear good news :) :) At least the interviews are done and over with for you all! :)

How many questions were you each asked by the way!? Did any of you prepare for the interviews at UCF with that study group that was mentioned during an information session!? If so, do you feel as if it prepared you well enough for the interview?!

I think this is the general feeling I'm getting about the whole application process. When they couldn't find the check-in list, didn't really know how they wanted to organize us in the beginning, etc. I'm sure it went smoother for other groups.

As far as cutting out two candidates, yes they are giving us a score (I thought it felt like ice skating or dance competitions when judges hold up number cards at the end...) but because we were in groups, I'm sure they were comparing people. If someone was kind of crummy at interviewing, the other people may get a higher score assigned because of the factor of comparison. That works in someone's favor.

We were asked 5 questions and we all answered before they moved onto the next questions, but they didn't have us answer in a particular order. They were pretty general. I tried to sound as genuine as possible. I noticed one interviewer was timing our responses and she started fidgeting with the watch when someone went on a little too long.
