Someone on allnurses who just got into a BSN program they interviewed for posted this link on nursing school interviews on another thread. It looks incredibly helpful, so I wanted to share it with you all:

Yes!! I've used the STAR format when teaching people how to interview (that's part of my job now)
I'm going to have to get up early to make sure I have enough time to get prepped. The forum for the Brevard/Cocoa was useful since they were the UCF interview guinea pigs. Looks like basic questions were asked with one or two emotional/tough questions to measure a level of genuineness.

    Hey guys
Congrats to all going to the interview. I too have gotten invited to the interview. I am a married male with a boat load of kids (4), going back to school to get my nursing degree. I have an overall GPA of 3.71, with a 4.0 in my pre-req's and science. My TEAS V score was an 88, which is ok I guess, but when you delve deeper into that score, I scored 100% in the life and human body science sections and most of the math sections of the TEAS (yes basic grammar and such has always been a weakness of mine).

I am interviewing at the 10:30 slot, as I am coming from Hunter's Creek and hate fighting morning traffic. I will leave early, but won't worry about how slow others are driving and causing me some extra stress. I too will wear a suit as this is an interview and you must impress.

    Good Luck to all

    Al
Congrats Pennal96 on your interview and welcome to the forum! It will be nice to meet you and hopefully work with you throughout the next year!

What is considered an emotional question? I wasn't sure how personal they were going to get...

One I've heard of was something like "what is the most difficult decision you've ever made."
It makes you either show some level of emotion, or look like a psychopath.

Oh gosh I convinced myself I wouldn't have to face questions like that until I'm applying for nursing positions after schooling! Here's hoping to not sounding like a psychopath!

I did a practice drive by today so I know where to go next week. Building is the imposing white one at the intersection of Research and Technology. Lots of parking and has a Tropical Smoothie Cafe right next to it.

Being that I presently work in Research Park it's 2 minutes away, woot. For additional reference folks, Once you turn off Alafaya past the Bank of America, driving down Research Parkway I want to say it is the first light, on the left. And yes, look for the Tropical Smoothie sign outside adjacent to the grey sign that says UCF College of Nursing in capital letters.

I'm so eager for next Friday!

Hey Guys!! New to allnurses and to this feed! I've been reading the feed since I got my interview invite and figured why not say hello and introduce myself?! I'm 25, currently living in South FL and have my B.S. in psychology which I completed at UCF
I absolutely LOVE UCF and am feeling a WHOLE lot of emotions just thinking about next Friday! Interview time is at 10:00am so hopefully I'll be seeing some of you there! Good luck all!!!

Just found this thread and I applied as well. I haven't gotten anything about an interview so I guess that means I am not getting in. Very depressing

Don't worry, jackievictoria713- You'll hear something soon. I'm pretty sure that they are going to wait for decision letters for the Accelerated program to go out before they are going to send invites for the basic. I applied to both, as did a lot of other people, so they really won't know who is in the running until they figure out who is going to the accelerated program. Chin up! The waiting is annoying but exciting.

I applied for UCFs accelerated nursing program and was very frustrated by the process. I hate that they require you to have a backgrpund check before decisions are made. I'm an out of state applicant and the process was VERY unclear. I ended up doing everything (sending transcripts, TEAS scores, fingerprints, petitioned classes, etc.) but missed the step to register for a background check, so I was declined. Needless to say I was VERY frustrated. UCF should make the steps more clear. I feel like I wasted a lot of time and money...
