Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

It seems many of us have had different challenges from different staff members. I hope all of the bumps in the road are because of the transition in formatting and not indicative of problems with the college's structure. I pray we all (who have been chatting here, because we obviously care a great deal) get in.

My thoughts exactly! I hope we'll all be studying together this summer :)

Interview time secure... I called at 8:03am. I will see some of you for the 9am Interview.

By the way I was wondering, would anyone else be interested in everyone having a (subtle) way of identifying fellow Interviewees from this thread on Interview day? (Since we are just a portion of the 100 or so) For example, we could each carry 3 red pens in the open, I was thinking. To the average person outside of this thread that would be just a coincidence, seeing multiple people with red pens. But to those of us on this thread, it could help ease introductions before we enter our Interview room, e.g. say 3 of us run into each other on the elevator, or in the main lobby, etc?

Just curious... if not, no biggie.

I like this. Lemme look for a red pen. Lol

Just by blogging with you all on here, I feel like we are going to make a pretty amazing cohort.

:) :) :)

Btw Gradius, it must have been you holding the line this morning. Lol I called at 8:03 am too, and I got a busy tone. ;)

:D I had to call 3x. The first two times were busy.

And don't you mean 3 red pens? ;)

You know I was even thinking today before my red pen idea, almost wanted to suggest a super early morning breakfast for everyone nearby campus... but I'm afraid the timing would be too rushed. I'd say we could all do something after, however I (and others I'm sure) may need to return to work and/or class. :(

I felt the same way (felt like a "family" already) with the thread from my Spring 2013 school that I almost went to in Tampa but got denied due to a transcript issue. But it's okay, I later realized that was a blessing in disguise since it granted me the opportunity to apply to UCF's ABSN program. :D :D :D

I don't have any red pens, but I do have a red market...does that count? :)

Sure, a marker could count, but it needs to be 3, just held in the palm of your hand or whatever once you are walking in the building, and throughout the building all the way until we sit down in the Interview rooms. Holding one pen is just too casual and could be mistaken for normalcy by anyone. Two is somewhat unusual but not 100% distinct; 3 is out of the ordinary, to the point where that could be definitive evidence for everyone on this thread to help identify each other, which is the whole purpose of the red pen idea in the first place. In my humble opinion....

Hence, that is my reasoning for 3. That is all. ;)

Lol

Let the looking for 3 red pens adventure begin.

If I can't find any, I'll buy them. ;)

Meeting others after interviews are done would be awesome. I'm not planning on doing anything after the interview. I'm making myself unavailable to school or whatever. However, I realize that some of you have things to tend too.

Are we allowed to bring anyone with us. I mean not to the interview of course. Lol but to be there with us before or after the interview.

I just had a thought-- instead of a super early breakfast for all... lunch for all at someplace nearby? Only thing is:

a) It would have to be no earlier than 1:30pm, to allow all of the 12pm Interviewees to get out (they said 45 min max for interviews) and have travel time to a TBD location...

b) Normally I'm all about "the more the merrier" but if you all were down for this, we could be a group of 10, if not 15, or 20... and that could be tough to seat us at TBD location. Unless it was say, something quick, (e.g. 5 Guys at Waterford, Panda Express, etc) where we could all mingle more freely among everyone there.

Oh hell, I'm getting too far ahead of myself, right? What can I say, I am eager for the 22nd! :)
