Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

I had this dream last night that the interview process for CON was the Hunger Games, but with nursing students. Whoever won got a seat....... Oh my. They need to send those letters out soon so I can get focused on May.

I just found this thread this morning and have been really excited reading it. I do have a question though...if you get an e-mail saying you have been made a "candidate" does that mean you've gotten an interview or that you're still just being considered for an interview?? Thank you!

When did you get that email?

It was more of an e-mail saying if you can fix this problem, i can make you a candidate. I got one of those Rejection e-mails two weeks ago because I didn't meet the "minimum requirements" which turned out to be another miscommunication. Now I'm just really curious as to what being a "candidate" means...

Ohhhhh. Was it from Connie Washam? She is the Program Assistant and she is in charge of getting the applications sorted out. Nope. You are still waiting like the rest of us.

It wasn't from Connie Washam but she did end up e-mailing me too. I'm just so confused! I can't wait to get the decision e-mails! Before finding this thread, I thought everyone had found out 2 weeks ago when I got that rejection e-mail.

Yikes! Sounds like there was quite a few of these mishaps with not meeting the minimum requirements. I believe this just means you're still a candidate for an interview since that's basically what my email said.

Yeah, Connie and I have exchanged numerous emails. My problem was that I have a graduate class I was trying to use for a prerequisite (developmental psych) and UCF does not merge grad and undergrad courses on the degree audit, which is how they judge your ability to meet the program requirements. Even though I did an APG petition back in November and was approved, the CON doesn't see it. So, I had to use an undergraduate grade that was not as pretty but still met the cut off.

That's similar to my problem. I was a grad student there at one point and despite applying and being accepted as an undergrad for this I was showing up as a grad student and they couldn't see my transcripts.

Glad we've both gotten it worked out!

Maybe that was my problem too... I was taking a class as a graduate student in Fall 2012 and had to reapply to UCF as an undergrad for them to see any of my information. It's so crazy how the two colleges don't have access to see each other's records! I was SO NERVOUS after getting that rejection email! I thought that I was blacklisted or something. Now the interview is weirding me out because I could have sworn one of the advisors told me interviews generally mean you are in the program --- it's just to make sure you are capable of asking and answering questions well; that very few people don't make it past the interview. Then someone said they interview double the number of applicants they have room for. So confused.

Yeah, CON told me that my transcripts weren't in, so I ended up sending them 4 times before they said that they couldn't access them because they were graduate. I had to contact Mr. Austin to have him personally put my grad course in and it still never showed up on my degree audit. Very frustrating (and pricey) to say the least. They told me they interview a lot of people. More than they have room for. Was told that helps them determine who gets in and who gets wait-listed. I also heard the accelerated is much less competition for a seat then the basic. I'm sure it must be a big chaotic mess, considering many of us applied to both accelerated and basic.

Anyway, it is a WHOLE lot better than the craziness I went through last year applying for Physician Assistant schools. Was told the total number of seats was 30 and most programs had more than 500 applicants. Pretty slim odds there. When I called up UCF, they said it is more of a 3-to-1 ratio for accelerated and 5-to-1 on the basic seats and many are dropped because they don't meet qualifications or don't get through the UCF application in time.

I'm starting to get very nervous in here. I know something must happen this week. My spring break is about studying :( and preparing for the interview.

I have a huge and most difficult physiology test 4 days before an interview, quizzes and presentations and everything else.

Have you started preparing for a potential interview? If so, how do you go about it?

I'm looking up the most generic questions they may ask and I'm practicing the possible answers I would give.
