Transferring credits from Hillsborough Community College to St. Pete College

Hi everyone, first post here, feel free to move it if I'm in the wrong place. Great site!

I'm in the Tampa area. I'm wrapping up an LPN program in 2 weeks (woo hoo!) and looking to bridge to my RN, preferably as soon as I can. I need to take A&P I/II, and Micro before I can apply. Have looked at HCC since it's closer for me, but since they only admit one transition class per year, by the time I finish my last pre-req's I'll be looking at not starting til May 2011. With SPC starting a bridge class each term I could (hopefully) start a lot quicker. My concern is this. SPC requires MCB 2010 and BSC 2085/2086. HCC requires MCB 1000 and BSC 1085/1086. Both schools call both courses "Microbiology" and "A&P I/II." HCC does NOT offer MCB 2010 or BSC 2085/2086. HCC's MCB and BSC are both prereqs for their nursing program so what I'm wondering is, is it the same course? I've contacted SPC and haven't had much luck, they just tell me to go such and such a link and look at the requirements. Gee, thanks. Has anyone here gone through this? I've registered for MCB 1000 for the summer A session and now I'm wondering if I should drop it and just finish my prereqs at SPC. Should I just wait and take MCB 2010 at SPC? Some insight would be much appreciated.

I was told by advisors on Monday July 6 at SPC HEC that the packets being mailed Tuesday were for all programs not just the LPN to RN program.

Poor mailpersons!!!!!!!! Everyone has been chasing them. I think I am going to buy my mailman a thank you gift. I have been chasing the man for weeks.

I have not been home yet to check my mail but I will post later if I received anything.

Oh thank you for the info. I hate sitting here at work all day wondering if it's sitting in the mailbox. Good luck!

Just to make your search thru the mail easier, it comes in a extra large tan mailing envelope so it sticks out like a sore thumb! It has the orientation info, paperwork for the drug and background screening, another paper that needs to be notarized, and a form to sign verifying that you've checked your degree progress report on MySPC and you are aware of your graduation requirements.

Hope you both have mail whenyou get home!

My packet was in the mail when I got home. They sure do not give a lot of time to get this stuff done. I am going to have to ask for time off to go get the drug screening done. Also, I am going to take the degree audit verfication form and the notarized affidavit to SPC in person so that I can hand deliver it.

thepopes-Hope you got some information today. Let us know.

I don't know if you work weekends too, but some of the Quest Diagnostics locations are open on Saturday.

Hope that helps and you don't have to take time off.

I agree with you on hand delivering the paperwork, if I hadn't received my packet today I was going to go by there tomorrow to make sure they had received my letter of intent. Thank goodness it did, now I just have to work on getting everything taken care of.

No potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. While it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. It is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. Your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. While allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. I'm bummed..my mailbox was completely EMPTY. Not one scrap of mail. I'm going to call today just to verify that they didn't misplace my application. UGH.

Congrats though to everyone.

So I called over and spoke with "L" in the advising office (who by the way i extremely nice and helpful) and she said they havn't even started sending packets out??????? I'm so confused. Which semester did you all apply to?

I applied and was accepted for the August 09 start for LPN-RN Transition evening classes. I don't know which one you applied for, but they've been sending packets out for a while from what we've been told. That's why we've been watching our mailboxes like total lunatics. Did you ever receive an acceptance letter yet? Do they have your info on record that you applied?
