Transfer student to UNF's BSN program

I am currently finishing my pre-req's to apply to University of North Florida's nursing program. I have a 3.8 overall GPA and closer to 4.0 GPA for just my pre-req's. I have not taken the TEAS yet; however, did take the HESI for my community college's program and did very well on it with a cummulative score of 90. I feel somewhat confident to get into the community college's ADN program; however, worried about my odds to get into UNF's BSN program being a transfer student and not one enrolled there since Freshman year. I would much rather get my BSN all at once through UNF instead of my ADN first and then having to go back to school AGAIN for my BSN. Any insider knowledge or opinions on the odds of transfer students getting accepted into UNF's BSN program??

Apply. There are very few students in my cohort there that started at UNF. If I had to guess, 75% or more are transfers. I know I am! Good luck! It's a hard but amazing program.

I do have one question- do you remember if there was a time limit on your response to the interview questions??

There wasn't a time limit on the questions, but the interview portion had a time limit (not sure how long it was overall - maybe 45 minutes or an hour??). I'm not sure why you ask but my advice would be to practice your answers to some questions you think they may ask (google for a list - there are some good resources online!). You don't want to ramble on and on - get to your point quickly and use your turn wisely to get across everything you want them to know about you. But you are not going to be super rushed, either. My interview experience was very relaxed and informal. It flowed nicely and nobody dominated the conversation - everyone had their chance to talk. And I think everyone had a chance to say everything they wanted to say, if that makes sense?? There were 5 people in my interview and we each had a chance to answer each question.

Right now, however, I am worried if I'll even be offered an interview :/ I took the TEAS today for the first time and got a 76.7% overall :( I hear you need atleast an 85 to be competitive for UNF. What is your advice already going through this? Any tips to better my score? How did you do on your TEAS?

I believe 76.7% is 306 out of the 400 pt scale

You can log into your ATI account any time to review your score. To figure your # just drop the percent sign from each of the 4 sections and add up the numbers (if I remember right, my actual score and my % score didn't add up/figure out exactly the same - they use the actual score to rank). The average for admitted students in the fall was 342 I think? And around 330 for everyone else. If your # is right, you are lucky you can take it again! How did you prepare for it?

Hi, I was just wondering if you got into UNF's BSN program, cause I'm currently in that same situation as you were. My GPA is a 3.8 and I just recently took the teas and also got a 76.7. I was wondering if I would even be considered for an interview. If you have any advice that would be great. Thanks and i hope you reply.

Hey there!!

First, YAY for deciding to pursue UNF for your BSN!! Your GPA looks great. For the TEAS, add up your composite scores: MATH, SCIENCE, ENGLISH and READING and find out what number they come out to be. You want to shoot for at least 336+ to be competitive. Remember that you can take the TEAS as many times as you'd like. GOOD luck!!!
