    Hi, I am a new grad from out of state. I have been applying everywhere about 25 applications a day only to get endless rejections. Is any tampa nurse out there willing to share their connection to hospital or any tips to gain employment? I had one bite, a phone interview, which I was so excited and nervous ,I did horribly I have volunteered in hospitals and other events like flu vaccinations and was also previously a CNA. I've applied to LTAC hospitals, SNF, hospitals, home health, camps, etc.

    I'm so eager to start. I have even hunted down human resources emails and emailed nurse managers/recruiters personally.

    I am not sure if anyone is willing to help, but I'll take anything! I'm willing to drive up to 50 miles and I'm in northern Tampa. I figured I'd give this a chance... I am sure something will come along and I will have to wait patiently but it's better to try all your resources than waiting for the opportunity to come to you right?

    the job market in tampa bay, or florida really, for new grads is pretty tight. the system I work for has their own nursing program, puts people thru it and then hires them. So it's kind of like a closed system. I have heard of hiring some outside new grads, but it's when there are tons of vacancies. I would just suggest searching for nursing "residencies" if you aren't already... I know new grad postings at this hospital are posted under like Clinical Nurse Resident. Are you definitely coming to Tampa? It's probably not helping if you are applying from another state.

    I have an apartment here in Tampa. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I recently applied to a few positions open to new grads and didn't get one clinical nurse resident position but I just applied to another so fingers crossed! I have to remind myself to be patient.. Something will come along. Edited to add: what system is it? That sounds like a good deal.

    I don't mind at all. That's actually one of my top picks to work patiently waiting for the new grad position to open up. Should I call them? Would that be better instead of applying online? I have an interview today, fingers and toes crossed!

    I know that Davita hires new grads and Florida Hospital Tampa has a floor dedicated to GN's. Good luck!!

    Thanks I got one thank you but no thank you from Davita but I hope since you said they hire new grads I am actually being considered for the other positions I applied to. Patiently waiting on those. Fingers crossed! I feel like I've got so much to improve on and just delaying it more stinks. I contacted the recruiter for FH Tampa and she gave the email for the GN coordinator yay my relative, who works there, will not like me working there as they know how rough it is but you've gotta start somewhere right!?

    Good luck you should call them I was a new grad and I started right in the ED. Didn't apply for the new grad program. I actually called the DON and she actually called me back I think she appreciated the effort.

    Baycare has a good new grad program but it is very competitive to get in. They strongly promote from within and lots of people start as PCTs to get a foot in the door in order to apply to the program.

    Try some hospitals in New Port Richey, or even Spring Hill if you don't mind a drive. Also look at some non tradional places - PPECs, Adult day care, home care, ect.
