Tampa area critical care

U.S.A. Florida

Does anyone work at a Tampa/St. Pete hospital (or know someone who does - you don't have to tell me where you work) that will be hiring new grads into critical care in late summer/early fall? How are the units? TGH isn't even interviewing until August, and Bayfront definitely has openings. That's really as far as I've gotten. I couldn't find anything online at the VA - is it better to go there in person? I'm not at all familiar with St. Joe's, St. Anthony's or MPM (or anywhere else). Is anyone here? I'm really only interested in working with adults. Thanks!

I work at TGH and am in the critical care program. TGH isn't interviewing until August with the next start date in October because they had over 70 applicants for June. The CCRP program consists of five units, first unit is 24 weeks(20 with preceptor and four with resource) and the other four are ten weeks( one week orientation to the new unit and two weeks with a preceptor and two with resource nurse). With this porgram you rotate through the different ICU's until you find the area you prefer. If a position becomes available and you are happy with the area you can except the position and not rotate through the next units. VA is very hard to get into and the hiring process can take weeks to months. According to a friend of mine that has been there for 13yrs it is difficult to get into their ICU's. I did my clinicals at Bayfront and they do hire new grads into the ICU's and I believe the orientation is 12wks. Not sure about the other facilities you listed but I hope this helps. :D
