Tallahassee Community College Fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello everyone!! I haven't found a thread for this Fall's group of nursing applicants. So far, I've been denied to 5 universities and have applied to 5 more programs around the state, including TCC. Although I didn't want to settle for an ASN, TCC's nursing programs is one of the best in the state, and I'm really hoping I make the cut.

Some stats- I have a 3.4 pre-req GPA, finished all the courses and scored a total 94% on HESI. (Reading:94, Grammar:96, Math:100, Vocab:84) So I've calculated that I have 146/160 points for admission.

From the other forums, it seems like I've got a decent shot here for once.. this journey has been a little discouraging so far but I'm hanging in there.

I'd love to hear from some of you potential class-mates, and your stats or other info you may have heard about this program.

Best of luck everyone!!! We've all worked extremely hard to get to this point, and still have a lot of work before we reach the end!

Best of luck ladies! We've all worked extremely hard to get to this point, and still have a lot of work before we reach the end!

I wish you the best of luck -- but don't forget about us guys here as well :)

I also applied in TCC Nursing program for fall 2013. So far my gpa is 3.8 and hesi score 93. I am not so sure if I can get into the program with that number as i have heard fall program is little bit competitive than spring.

3.8 GPA with a 96 on the Hesi. Think that's 154/160.

Hopefully the wait list/acceptance emails will be sent out in the next couple of weeks. Not looking forward to buying all the books.

Also a dude.

Wow! Great job!! With those numbers it looks like we all have a nice shot at this :) from last years forums, everyone knew by the first week in June.. Has anyone heard how many applicants there were for this semester?

Not sure, but it always seems to be at least 200 or so. And I think each rotation has something like 50-60 seats? Just because people apply doesn't mean they even meet the minimum standard though, apparently a lot of people apply without even having all the pre-reqs.

Hey Chrystal and Co.!

I'm a very numbers oriented individual so here's my stats: GPA 3.61 (cursing the C I made in psychology 10 years ago), HESI ave. 93.8, points 146, I think (going to recalculate in a sec.) I have also completed humanties, as well as microbiology and the lab.

Fall 2012 students accepted to the nursing program averaged the following scores: GPA - 3.64 , HESI - 93.88, quality points - 146.42. For spring 2013 I saw someone with 138 quality points was accepted although she was initially an alternate.

** gleaned from other allnurses boards

Based on the average scores of those accepted into the program the past few semesters, I think I would have an ok shot at admittance, but it's not good enough to allow me to relax. I also worry about a potential "monkey wrench"...

In the past FSU has had 40 something seats per semester in their accelerated BSN program. However, the past spring 2013, they did not have an accelerated class.

Does that mean that there are 40 or 50 additional students that would have been enrolled at FSU during spring that will still be floating around seeking acceptance for a Fall 2013 program? Will they be fighting for seats in another nursing program at TCC? Will these potentially displaced students affect my acceptance in the program or not?

*I heard that the intention behind this was to cycle graduates so that newly graduated BSNs could immediately enroll in the Master's program at FSU (as opposed to waiting another semester or two and moving/getting a job elsewhere/going to school elsewhere).

I've gone back and my HESI score was 93.5 and my GPA still 3.61 bringing my quality points to 147.6.

Serendip- Thanks for sharing so much info! This forum makes the wait a little more bearable!! From your stats, it sounds like you have a really good shot in- you've got me by a point! ;) Good luck! Try not to stress about all the roll-overs from FSU's accelerated program.. their bachelors degrees don't give them any better of a chance than you or I have. That's the nice thing about TCC- the point system is GPA and HESI only, plus, you took a couple extra classes in case there's a tie.
