Tallahassee Community College Fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hello everyone!! I haven't found a thread for this Fall's group of nursing applicants. So far, I've been denied to 5 universities and have applied to 5 more programs around the state, including TCC. Although I didn't want to settle for an ASN, TCC's nursing programs is one of the best in the state, and I'm really hoping I make the cut.

Some stats- I have a 3.4 pre-req GPA, finished all the courses and scored a total 94% on HESI. (Reading:94, Grammar:96, Math:100, Vocab:84) So I've calculated that I have 146/160 points for admission.

From the other forums, it seems like I've got a decent shot here for once.. this journey has been a little discouraging so far but I'm hanging in there.

I'd love to hear from some of you potential class-mates, and your stats or other info you may have heard about this program.

Best of luck everyone!!! We've all worked extremely hard to get to this point, and still have a lot of work before we reach the end!

I dont think we need them the first day of class, but I have heard maybe the second for a photo thing. I also think we learn about our schedules the day that classes start, I think mostly because we'll be getting our clinical site information. I have heard from another classmate that the only one we will need is the Med Surg book (which sucks because its like 15lbs). Thats all I know though!

I was told we only need a notebook. You should come in civvies/normal clothing. If you are paranoid/prepared, I'd just keep the books/uniform in your car. This was from a woman working in the main office.

Hi everybody! I have a quick question and was hoping one (or more) of you could help me!

I am applying to TCC's nursing program for Spring 2014 and am having a lot of trouble both registering and finding a place to take the HESI A2 exam. I live in South Florida and driving to Tallahassee for a three hour test would be a great hassle. Did any of you take the HESI at an institution other than TCC?

I've contacted both the nursing program as well as the TCC testing center and they have just told me to check out the Elsevier website.

Please help!

I traveled up to Tallahassee from Sarasota to take the test and spend a few days scoping out the town, so I really don't know :/ I know TCC's website does say you have the option to take it at a testing center other than theres, but I dont know the process. I would try contacting Elsevier directly and asking them. If you plan on doing that, I would not wait until the last minute to take your test, because I think it takes a bit longer for TCC to receive your information.

Thank you for responding! After contacting Elsevier I've decided to just make the trip up to Tallahassee. I feel better knowing that the nursing program will automatically receive my scores rather then it traveling all over!

Good idea :) Any sort of bureaucratic process drives me up the wall, haha. Good luck with your exam!

Hello everybody,

I took the hesi wed at TCC and scored a total of 88.5 with the extra points totaling 106.5. First off does anybody know it if they round up to an 107? Or does it become a 106. Also i will be applying with a 3.66 GPA for the Fall of 14' semester so putting me at about 142.5 to 144 points depending if they do any rounding. Will this be enough to get me into Fall if not do i have a good chance at getting in Spring? By the time spring gets here i will have completed both co reqs as well so hopefully that will help.

From what I've read, Spring is easier to get into. If you don't get in the Spring, I'd consider retaking a class or maybe the Hesi.

Thanks, I think im going to go ahead and apply to Fall 14' with the 142.5 (also completed humanities, micro bio, and micro bio lab) and see if i get in. If not then i will retake the hesi and apply to spring.

You will probably be accepted as an alternate for Spring term, their automatic acceptees for this year was from 145+. However we have 16 alternates and all but one got called in, so you could have a chance. It just varies every semester.

Well id really like to get into Fall 14'. So i guess i will retake the hesi. I recalculated and id have 143 points. So i know i will have to retake the hesi. I will probably do that again within the next 2 weeks..
