Still a new grad?

U.S.A. Florida

I am wondering if anyone would share some insight... I am thinking of moving from TN to the Tampa area soon. I am currently an RN working in a busy 31 bed Emergency Room. Graduated May 09 and started in the ER in June 2009. This gives me roughly 7 months experience. I have BLS and ACLS, and scheduled for PEARS and PALS in Feb. Would I still be considered a new grad? Most openings I am seeing say a min of 1 yr experience. Also, how much trouble is it to transfer a license? I am so scared to make this huge move. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

I live in Tampa Bay, the economy here is in the toilet.

My suggestion is that you wait to move until you complete your first year at your present employer.

Do yourself a huge favor and wait to move until you have secured a job.

Do not move and leave your good job behind if you can avoid it. Stay where you are until the economy recovers. Yes, you'd still be considered a new grad til you get that minimum year experience. I've read stories on here where people who were hired by hospitals, moved here and the hospital never put them to work. They are without work for months, getting into debt, looking for work... More people are leaving FL for the first time than are moving here. If you have a steady paycheck and like your job you have it good, why give that up?
