SPC Spring 2013 hopeful, anyone else biting their nails?!?!

I will be sending my official Spring 2013 app in on 7/20! All pre-reqs completed except for micro (which I am already registered for in the fall before the program would begin), and a GPA of 3.78 on my pre-reqs. Wish I hadn't been such a goof off back in 1997 when I took Composition I! I am also an employee with Baycare and applying for the EAYL progam. I was just praying to find other people out there, in a similar situation, a little support and just knowing we aren't alone in this nerve wrecking path would be nice.

Do we have to get our fingerprints done by Nov 14th?

No, they did not tell me to come sign paperwork. I just know that I have to go do some health testing on November 22nd. Should I email her to see if I need to go sign something? I am not an employee maybe that has something to do with it.

I am sure that is the difference:-) we (as employees) had to go through health testing upon employment. I probably have to sign work agreement, etc. because the background check and other details were completed upon employment also. It is rare that non-employees get in if enough employees apply so way to go!!! Looking forward to trudging through the program with you!! Let me know where you are placed as a tech while in school, I work @ Mease Countryside!

Did anyone get a call from Largo Medical Center for an interview tomorrow?

I got an acceptance letter for SPC's nursing program this spring 2013 term on Monday and am so excited because last time I was chosen as an alternate. For all those asking about the background check you do have to go onto Certified Profile and pay $188. I did my drug tests and fingerprints earlier this week so just waiting for that to upload onto the profile. I'm assuming once they get the fingerprints that's how they get the background check? I did freak a little over all the clinical requirements because the letter makes it sound like we need all that done before the Nov 15 orientation. I emailed one of the advisors in SPC's Health Department and he reassured me [COLOR=black]that the immunizations component does not need to be completed prior to the orientation. When we come to orientation, the Nursing department will discuss which immunizations need to be completed and by what date. We are only required to do the Background screening, Drug Screening, and Fingerprinting prior to orientation. I hope that helps with anyone's questions.

I am a bit nervous as to what to expect at orientation. I heard you have to take a test? Is this true?

I didn't get into the program this spring through SPC. I'm hoping a 3.7 and all classes done will get me into the program in the fall if I don't get into the Largo Med program. I went to the second interview at Largo Med yesterday. Something else to think about for those who went to the info session: Northside and LMC did NOT discuss who they wanted with each other so if you did well in both interviews you could very well get a call back at both. So I am still hopeful and nervous. I was wondering if anyone has the booklist for the nursing classes. I was gifted some books by a recent grad from USF and I'm hoping I can use them!

Congratulations for all of those who got in! I'm so excited for you! Do a happy dance and celebrate!

I believe we take the TEAS test but from what I have heard we schedule it so its not taken the day of orientation. Its for the teachers to see were the students stand, not like a pass or fail type test. This is what I have been told by students however, so I could be wrong. Does anyone know what hospitals we can pick from for clinicals. Ive viewed the list on the HEC nursing website and All Childrens and St Pete General are on that list but I have also seen another list that did not include those two hospitals.

I uploaded all my immunization information since I had access to them at work...but I did my fingerprints on Monday and it still shows as incomplete...i have my paperwork as proof but my background and drug test are complete. Excited about orientation!

I have a question about the immunizations maybe you will know. I got my record from my doctor but my shots go back atleast 10 years, I finished all my required ones, do you know if they expire in 10 years or so. Or how often they need to be updated?

Does anyone know when the students that got into the program through EAYL will be attending orientation? We haven't even received an email from SPC regarding when orientation is or what needs to be completed?

Can any of you who got in through SPC put the information on here that we have to have completed and how we go about doing it?

You may just need to get some titers done for the hepatitis, varicella and mmr to show immunity, the tb you have to have 2 consecutive years showing negative results or a chest xray showing negative...i got the tdap & flu shot i got from my job this year. hope that helps but i don't think we have to have all that done before orientation.
