Is anyone looking for a roomate. Im moving to the area but needed some options..................send me a private message if you have or know of something. Im happy but im so nervous. Wondering if I made the right decision and If I will be able to keep up.

the school is only 12 miles or so from UCF, if you have trouble finding a roomie, you might try there...good luck and looking forward to meeting you soon.

David

hello all! i found nice apartments at Hidden Valley, just a few miles from the school, they are actually like townhouses, with lots of mature trees. around $900 for a 2/2. Check craigslist. They are owned by individuals so you could probably negotiate the rent since people love to rent to nursing students. You have a lot of credibility. When looking for housing and i mention i am a nursing student, they bypass the credit check, lol!

I got accepted to Remington, but I decided to go to another school. It is only 12k, and 3 semesters long with a long winter and summer break.

good luck to you all! i really wanted to go to Remington, but I really can't justify the 30k when I can go for 12k. :)

Hey mimsiemendez, and everyone else looking for roomies. I just got my acceptance letter last Saturday, so excited and nervous. I am already overwhelmed with all the stuff I have to get situated just to move out there. I'm from San Francisco (Cali's schools are all so impacted or even more expensive) would love to find one female roommate . I'm F/25/athletic/health conscious/super friendly and easy to get along with (like to have stuff in common with roomies besides the obvious). Let me know if you need a roomie, gonna take roses advice and look into Hidden Valley :)

those of you who are new to the area, let me know and maybe we can meet up for a coffee and those of us local folks can help with any questions to help you get settled.

Looking forward to meeting you.

David

That sounds great Floridave (very creative with the name by the way). Question: I'm now considering looking at apartments in a community (don't know if that's what it's considered down there) between Lake Mary and Orlando. Do you think that's a good idea? Can you recommend any communities?

Will be easier and faster to help if you PM me.

Which program are you attending, if you don't mind me asking? The one at FAU? I'm very eager to get into an accelerated program ... This may sound silly, but seeing as how I'm already 25, I feel like i'm already "old", and am very anxious to get started with school! Thanks :)

Most of us on this thread are going to Remington Colledge of Nursing...and about feeling old...I am 55 (and I am told I am not the oldest one in the program!!!) and starting a new career...there is lots of road ahead out there for you AND me. Good luck.

Floridave

hi all,

the bsn program is also my second career. i turned 40 in april and really do not consider myself to be over or old. additionally, i am a mother of five (22 years old daughter going to medical this fall, and 4 boys 19, 12, 9, and 7). i am from san antonio, texas. i am also looking for a roommate, but i would prefer to wait and decide during the orientation day. david i will give you a call this weekend if you don't mind.

roses623, i will miss you because you encouraged me indirectly to attend this school with your fine messages, and rich descriptions. i understand your decision and wish you all the best.

keep in touch.

thanks

Hello SeminoleJenn,

I was 25 when I started all the prereqs. I had 9 to take! I completed them in a year, working full time! It was nerve racking since I had avoided all these science classes during my first degree on purpose, but I definitely learned how to study and I realized I actually like Science!

I am attending the accelerated bachelors at Salisbury University. It is 3 semesters with winter and summer break. If you are out of state it costs $12k if you choose to work in MD for 2-3 years after graduating...or if you only work a year, you pay the prorated amount of $18k, so even if I work in MD or not, it kind of eases the pressure of having to have all that $$ upfront.

I just got my fall schedule in the mail. Classes start August 31st. Monday/Wed/Fri I have Nur312 lecture 9-950am, then Nur310 from 10-1050am, On Mondays I have clinical from 4-5pm. Tuesday I have clinical 2-10pm, No classes on Thursday. On Saturday I have Lab from 8-12pm. It looks like I am registered for one more class but it isn't showing up on the schedule. From what I have heard all my extra time outside of class will be spent in the Library studying! I am taking the same classes as the Junior undergrads. I think there are only like 20 students in the accelerated course, so we must be mixed in with them. I also like the fact that SU has a library open really late at night, if I attended Remington, where would I have studied? I can't study at home, so I think it wouldn't have been conducive to good grades for me. Plus I would rather have the breaks to take the opportunity to do some externships to add to my resume. I think remington will pump out experienced nurses too.

I was actually put on the waiting list, but I was so persistent that when someone decided not to attend, they let me in (I am assuming this since the waitlist is not numbered).

Good Luck!

wow, nato! remington was actually my first choice, and i got in ( i was sweating for a while~!) but i realized that i would really prefer something cheaper (however as i am getting my information for su, they state that some nursing books can cost $300-600 each!!!!!!) ouch~ and i did really like lake mary, i would love to move to florida one day, just not yet i guess! good luck to you! i am sure it is the right school for you! and i hope i am not letting you down! i have a really odd side of me that promotes things very well that i am excited about (there are five and counting students going into nursing because of me too! lol!) check out hidden valley apartments on craigslist for lake mary, they are soo nice, not little shoeboxes stacked high, but more like townhouses. lots of mature trees and a nice vibe, and close to school. you should be able to pay $450 if you share a 2/2 with someone else. take care :)
