Hi everyone,

I am starting January 2012 too, been waiting like the rest of you so congrats to us! I am one of the Navarre crew too so we will be racing each other down 98 at 6:00 a.m (or hopefully commuting together:)).

Does anyone have a clue as to what the schedule may look like?

Our adventure is about to begin!

Hi Snico! Gotta love the Navarre-Pensacola 500.... I'm also in Navarre....far East.

I was supposed to start last fall and had to delay entry at the last minute. Schedules are assigned...we do not choose. There were 3 different schedules. Two were mostly mornings on various days. An example is that my schedule was afternoons for Fundamentals. Clinicals on Tuesday from 7-3:45. Thursday-Mental Health 1 from 10-11:30 then Fundamentals from 1-3:30. Friday was Fundramentals from 1-3:30. Sometime during that week for the first 6 weeks we have to sign up for simulator....2 hours per week. They open the registration for that online during the first week of school. :)

Hi FLDoula,

I think 2 semesters ago you could choose. Bright side of someone choosing for me is one less thing to think about... Bad side is rearranging childcare:uhoh3:(I love these little smiley things, bright AND annoying!). I hope we get to choose our clinicals....Gulf Breeze is a nice commute at 5:45 am!!

Now, completely off the subject but of interest to me,are you a doula?

Hi, No we do not get to choose our clinicals sites. They have a huge master schedule I saw online at the PSC website that has students from the RN program, LPN program, EMT and Paramedic programs also.

Yes, I have been a Certified Birth Doula with DONA since 2007. :) I am also a Certified Lactation Counselor through Healthy Children and the Center for Breastfeeding in MA. Earlier in the year I just re-certified in both areas. There is actually a huge birth community here in our local area!

That is so great! I wish I had known you 4 years ago!!! I had a doula and midwife for my first baby 4 years ago. Smartest thing I have ever done and the entire reason why I want to go into nursing. They both changed how I looked at the medical field. When I first got pregnant (at an "advanced maternal age" )I just knew I wanted an epidural in the parking lot! I didn't want any pain, was afraing of anything to do with birth and you couldn't convince me otherwise. Well, after meeting 3 area OBGYN's and feeling like I was at the deli counter at Publix I found a midwife who educated me and changed my way of thinking and the fear went out the window. The woman who taught my lactation class at Baptist Hospital ended up being my doula and the nurse at Baptist who taught my birth classes was there to deliver the baby! It was like some weird reunion:eek: But, the best experience ever. CNMW is my dream job

Hello everybody. Congratulations on your acceptance into the program. I am waiting to get in. I would like to know if you could tell me the names of the books they are using? A friend gave me some books and i would like to know if they are the same.

Thank you

Hello All,

Hopefully you all can provide me with some insight on Pensacola State College. Regarding the college, does anyone know the percentage rate of those students graduating from the program passing the NCLEX? Also, if there is a high percentage rate of hospitals hiring students graduating from PSC.

Is anyone familiar with the deadline for submitting admissions information? I didn't see a deadline on the site... How is the program/staff, I heard that some nursing programs can be very bad on top of the professors..

Just wanted some insight before applying. ANY information would be GREAT!!!!

THANKS ALL!!!
