How's everyone doing? Have you talked with others that have applied for spring? Anybody know how many people applied?

I have no idea. It would be nice to know where we stand.

I went up there on the 4th to turn in my application and this is what GPA they use

Go to current students on MDC website and on the left side there is something that says Transcript Audit and click that and make sure that you have the nursing program selected if you arent a nursing major and click on submit or whatever it says. Probably log in.

The GPA they use is the AS PGM GPA.

for me the transcript title said this.

23032 NURSING, A.S.DEGREE,R.N. (ACCELERATED)-PRESELECT

All it has to do is the science GPA which it will calculate as long as you have the correct stuff at the top of your transcript.

Now scroll down till you see AS PGM GPA and thats it.

Take that gpa and move the decimal one place to the right so a 3.12 would turn into a 31.2

now take your TEAS score and multiply that by .6 so, 78.3(.6)=46.98

Now lets add those together and you have a 78.18.

THIS BY NO MEANS AN ACCURATE WAY TO TELL BUT PROBABLY BETTER THAN NOTHING!

I think a great way would be to see which percentile you are in on the TEAS. I would call up there and see how many people applied to the program last year and how many people was accepted for your program. So they may say, "500 people applied and we had 100 seats". That means 20% of the people that applied got in. Then look on your TEAS and look at the TEAS SCORE PERFORMANCE PROFILE and look at the "Percentage Rank - Program" and if you are in the 80 or higher percentile then you should know approximately where you stand, given you have a fairly good GPA... I would say that there was probably around 20 or more people who declined to attend MDC because of changes in their schedules and lives that may have chosen another institution.

I don't understand how "As program gpa" could be the score if they're supposed to be using the gpa of your sciences. When my sciences = 3.53, but As program is lower :( I know, awkward sentence there. What I mean is when I calculate my science gpa, (scores from Anat 1&2, anat lab 1&2, Chem and lab, and micro bio- that = 3.53 I don't know where the As Program score would come from.

Hi everyone!

I called Dade earlier in the week and found out that the avg teas score was 73, so that's a hopeful sign. Does anyone know how many students they accept for both accelerated and generic for Spring? I was told around 300 between both campuses and for both programs combined. That sounds like a large number, what do you guys think?

I don't know anything about Homestead or the ASN bridge program, but roughly, Medical Campus accepts:

150 students for generic full-time ASN

50 students for generic part-time ASN

50 students for accelerated ASN

(One of those 50's may be a 40...can't remember for certain.)

If the current class is averaging a TEAS V score of 73, then they're doing a lot better than any past class that has taken the same test; the average was around the mid-60's or so, a hair above the national average.

With very good science grades and a TEAS V score of 80, you're pretty much a shoo-in, with a good margin. At least, that's how it was for the last couple of classes.

If you look it will show you where it calculates the grades from.

Check on transcript and see which ones they counted and make sure you are using the correct transcript generator for the right program that can make a difference also.

These are the science pre-reqs for the ADN program:

BSC2085 A&P 1

BSC2085L A&P 1 lab

BSC2086 A&P 2

BSC2086L A&P 2 lab

CHM1033 chemistry

CHM1033L chemistry lab

MCB2010 microbiology

That's 3+1+3+1+3+1+3 = 15 credits.

If you didn't take microbiology lab you're silly, though it doesn't count in the calculation. It will likely matter if you want to go on for a BSN, though.

I took the TEAS in July and the average score then was 64.9 so if the average now is 73 it increased by about 8%. I scored in the 89th percentile (I got an 80). I don't know what percentile I'm in now. =/
