Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

Thanks!!

Hi mjill88!

I asked an advisor the same question last friday and she confirmed we will be notified by email. She recommended checking the MDC email account at least once a day after May 1 just in case things speed up since they give appliccants 2 weeks to answer to the offer, if they dont hear from the students, they give the spot to the people next on the list.

I hope that info helps.

Thanks Mary!

That does help and that's good to know that it may be earlier than mid-June for when we find out.

Quick question for anyone:

I know a requirement for the nursing program if you are accepted is the completion of a CPR class.....Does MDC offer a class for CPR??

Or where would you recommend getting certified?

Thanks!

Yes, MDC offer the CPR class ($75). You can find the dates and locations here:

Thanks kro90! I really appreciate that!

Just registered for the CPR class offered at Homestead in June. I figure, if I get in, that's one thing already done. If I don't get in, for some reason, a CPR class never hurts :)

I love how the advisor says to check each day after May 1, when, unfortunately, we all know it will probably be a while before we hear anything :(

Good idea, either way it'll be beneficial to be certified. Although I'll be taking mine at the medical campus cause it's closer.

Lol the advisors like playing games. I'm thinking sometime June but we'll see.

I'm figuring June too :/

Hi all!! I applied for the Part-time track. I took the Teas on April 27th and turned everything in that day. The stack of applications they had was scary!!! My Teas score was 83.3 and my science GPA is 4.0. My combined is an 89.98. I overheard the proctors talking and they mentioned that the overall Teas score this round was slightly lower than other times so their criteria for entrance into the program may be lower. This waiting game to hear from them is killing me!!! ?

Great scores and great info deisybear!!

It seems that many advisors are saying the same thing about lower teas scores.

With the scores I've seen posted so far on this thread, I don't think any of us will

have a hard time getting accepted.

That's a really good score you have. You'll be a shoe-in. Did you only apply for the part-time track?

Yeah, I only applied for part-time. Unfortunately, I have to continue to work while I go through the program. I know it will take longer and it will be very difficult but I am very committed to this and will do whatever it takes.
