MDC Nursing spring 2014

U.S.A. Florida

So I'm starting the post for Spring 2014. I'm currently waiting for my acceptance letter for fall term but just in case applying for spring is my back up plan.

So my GPA is 3.0 and my teas is 72 giving me a score around 73.

Since I didn't get a first round email for fall I'm thinking of retaking my teas test so if anyone is willing to study with me please let me know. Good luck to everyone applying for spring!!

I'm patiently waiting for my acceptance or rejection email for the transitional bridge. I don't know what else to do or think about. Anyone else waiting for transitional FT/PT?. some people told me they're not sending anymore acceptance emails some said they will. I don't know who to believe.

Just stay positive. The college is closed today, so don't count on receiving an email today.

We're all rooting for you! ;)

jla27- The first semester is probably the hardest. They throw so much at you that first week of the semester. If you can, get a N-CLEX study guide (Saunders or Lippincott) and do practice questions. These are the type of questions that you will see in your courses. Stay on top of your readings but do not read your chapters from front to back (there are way too many assignments and you will get behind). Read and study smarter, not harder. I only have read about 1/3 of the assigned readings because there isn't enough time. I ALWAYS do my questions at the end of the chapters. Our professors keep telling us to practice questions, questions, and more questions.

Everything in nursing school is about strategy. You have to learn what to spend time on and what to skim over. It takes a couple exams, but it gets easier once you learn what is MOST likely to be on the exam. Its definitely a head game, and you have to stay positive. Remember that you were selected for the program, so you ARE smart enough to succeed.

Sorry for the long post. If I think of anything I will post it.

You guys are welcomed. I know of atleast 3ppl currently in the bridge program, and everyday i swear i ask them the same questions. Im excited about starting the F/T bridge at the same time trying to mentally prep. If there are any questions you guys have pertaing to the transitional (fulltime) let me kno. I will gladly ask.

@Candy, im still praying for you, dont give up

Just remember the single most important thing: Support one another! Which you are already doing on allnurses. Your confidence will be tested every single day in nursing school, so its SO important that you help one another to succeed. If you encourage each other, then you can stay strong when things get really tough! Good luck

How many hours are the transitional students in school? A few days a week? Everyday? Less than the generic. Is it one year? How many tests per week? Thanks!

There is a homestead nursing page in Facebook pm me if you want to find it.

Thank you!

Hello All! I've been browsing this site for years from the time I was considering doing my LPN a few years ago. Thankfully I've completed that chapter and been working. This forum has been extremely informative & supportive in pursing my nursing career and I have been pushing forward to my RN, and glad to finally add my "first post" lol! I too have been accepted into the Spring 14' Transitional FT program at the Medical Campus (face/face) option! I've been reading and keeping up with this LOOOONG thread off & on for the past week following up, and to those accepted to the program CONGRATS!!!! I hope I get to meet you guys especially those that would be in my class... and to the others that are anxiously/patiently waiting acceptance... continue to be Positive & have Faith!! Wish all of you the best!!

Can any of the current AO student PLEASE expounds on their financial Aid experience. Were you able to get additional loans, whether subsidized, unsubsidized or private, to supplement your expenses? What is MDC financial Aid department like? Do things go over smoothly or do you have to visit the same issues several times? When did you receive you financial aid? I know first semester is 21 credits, how much was your tuition. Sorry for all the questions.. I kind of need to put my finances in-order!!!
