Published

this is what the director stated in an email: the deadline date to apply for the fall 2012 program is may 1, 2012. the deadline date to apply for the spring 2012 program is september 1, 2011. please remember that all admission requirements, including teas and hsc0003 (a new course required for all students applying for fall 2012) must be completed prior to the deadline date to apply.

it's always something new they add!

WOOHOO!!! GO SHEECO!

"Does the natural science include only the pre-reqs or any science course? Cause with microbiology lab, my gpa becomes a 2.5, without it I would have a 3.06"

A friend of mine told me yesterday that she read somewhere on the MDC website that ENC1101 & PHI2604 will be count as science Pre-requisites. That may help you out if you have good grades in those classes.

I'll be taking the TEAS again on Monday!!! I hope I can do better :D

when are you taking it?

Hi,

I checked the website http://www.mdc.edu/medical/Nursing/pdf/selectioncriteria2010/7-10%20%20ADN%20Generic%20admission-selection%20criteria%20_version2.pdf and it doesn't say that anywhere that I could find. I am doing very well in my classes but if you find that link please tell me I'd like to see whats changing since it seems something changes everyday. Thank you. ;)

WOOHOO!!! GO SHEECO!

Thanks so much!!! I was so worried!!!! :)

I did not go to the Spring open house, but I will definitely go to the next one...

Hi MigMarVel,

They just had another open house, did u manage to go?

Sheeco :lol2:

Hey Sheeco,

1) In my opinion I think it's a good idea that you apply to generic, accelerated and even part-time. Whatever you can do to better your chances of getting into nursing school at MDC is worthwhile.

2) As of this moment I don't know much about the PTK honor society but it definitely looks like something that I'll be joining after the summer semester or in nursing school.

3) Do what you can do to end up with an A in chemistry. Nothing below a 90%. Even if you have to meet the professor after hours and ask for extra credit. GPA is worth 40% of selection criteria in MDC...

I got inducted to the PTK honor society on April 4th, it was a beautiful ceremony. I am very proud of my accomplishments. I have come a long way.:D

Thank you, Sartak! Congrats and do keep us posted on how your career as an MDC nursing grad goes!

Yisy, I haven't heard of anyone who got a 96%+. Some guy said he got a 98%, but judging from what I know about him, I think he was full of hot air.

I know for sure about a couple of people that got a 94%. No one else I have heard of got into the 90%+ range.

I am only telling you what I was told by the adviser with the first letter R. I don't believe its impossible because we haven't met everyone.

What I care about is getting in and being surrounded by good-hearted classmates who help each other out and who are compassionate. This is most important to me.

I wish everyone success as well.

That's fantastic to hear! I also believe that a very friendly learning environment can only help everyone to become the best nurses possible, and continue to send that energy out to our future patients.

Congrats on your A's and your honors!

Thanks so much ZeppHead8! It always help when you have encouragement. There are wonderful people on here and I hope it continues that way. I just hope that when I start the nursing program people will help each other out because it's not easy although it may be for some but to stick together. We should all be a family and not think one is better than the other because I strongly agree with u that we should be positive and it will send that same energy to our patients.

I would imagine that this is outdated information (I know, hard to believe there would be conflicting information out there about the nursing program...)

It didn't mention anything about Microbiology, Human G & D, or the TEAS test, all of which are definitely requirements for the program.

ZeppHead8

I have to agree with you. This info it's probably outdated. :)

Yes, that is outdated. You have to constantly fish around the site to find the new information and if you sit with an advisor they would be able to explain to you everything you are confused about.
