MDC College Bridge/Transitional schedule

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello everyone. Could someone who is familiar with MDC let me know what the Bridge or Transitional program weekly schedule is like? I am trying to figure out if it's a Monday-Friday 7-5 schedule etc... Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

Id also like to know differences on the online and face to face programs. my friend just got in for Fall 2012. Ill be applying for Spring 2013. I should get in, but I still have to pass the NACE.

Also if anyone is reading this be aware that you can take an MGF math instead of MAC1105 if youre having trouble passing it. I transferred over my MGF1106 from FIU and they honored it as a substitute. Im taking my STA, Micro Lab, and Nutrition now so I can do the BSN as soon as Im done with the AS and not have to take any pre-reqs.

Hi Dizzy, it's been a while since I've had a chance to log onto this site. I would imagine that by now you probably have already chosen your option. Online is a pretty rigorous program. If you selected this option, read, read, read, and prepare to tech yourself. Assignments are listed with due dates and you are responsible for the rest. During orientation, they will go out of their way to make you believe that the online option was deigned for working people; however, this can't be any further from the truth. Many of your clinicals will be held during the week days for example, psych clinicals, you will be there for 2 full days (Wednesday & Thursday) during that rotation, expect to come onto campus for all midterms and final exams, many of which you will have to take at the Med campus, during the time selected by your instructor. Many of the books required for the class will never be used. Depending on your instructor, you may be required to do pre-assignment (this means that you are required to go to your clinical site the day before opt our clinicals in order to be assigned a patient for the next day... You must write up the Atho, nursing interventions, labs, info on meds etc... (detailed care plan). This info must be handed to your professor by 7 am on each clinical day. We are on break until the next semester begins at the end of the month, if you have additional questions, please let me know.

Hi Everyone,I just accepted the online option.I was told that clinicals were on Saturdays. Now I'm concerned to read that clinicals are held during the week also. I also work M-F 7A to 3P. Do they work with with you at all on this?

Hi [COLOR=#003366]hnic0522,

I'm about to send you a private message (if I can), but first I'm attempting this medium. Do you think that I can come speak to you? I have a few questions.

I know this thread is a bit dated...but I am considering Miami Dade's bridge program. I would like to know if clinical rotations are still on weekends. Is psych rotatation weekdays/mornings? If so, what are the times? Thanks

The bridge program is quite rigorous, I attended the online option because I had a full-time job. After my first semester, I was forced to cut my hours. Many of the clinicals only had a weekday option i.e. Psych was BOTH Wednesday & Thursday 8a -5p. There were very few clinicals offered on the weekends and the slots are even more limited as there were only 9 spots for each rotation. For a full semester class we were required to attend clinicals from 7a-7p on Saturdays, but during the shorter semesters like in the summer we had to attend both Saturdays and Sundays 7a-7p. Be prepared to attend clinicals during the week, I don't see any way around it. The best rotations fill up quickly, often you can't even register yourself. I can't tell you how many times I waited up until midnight in order to register for the rotation that I wanted, only to get an error message and have to drive all the way to the medical campus in order to get registered. Sometimes I was lucky to get the rotation that I wanted before the class filled up, but I wasn't always lucky. I hope this helps.

Hello Everyone, this posting is a little outdated. I'm getting ready to apply to the lpn to rn program, does anyone have updated info as far of schedule. I need to know how to arrange for daycare. Thanks a lot !
