I am attending Keiser, and I love it!

I am in orlando, we have a brand new building, with a brand new nursing lab, and we have great teachers!

we get all the attention we need, plenty of time for 1 on 1, and a grea Nursing director!!!

i can't complain not even 1 bit of the school/ nursing program!

at clinicals we are respected, and we are on hands on from your 1st clinical day which is 3 weeks into the program!

we have top technology at our lab, and our instructors are great, calm, experienced, and still work on the field!

I can't say anything bad about it!

it is expensive, but it is definately worth it!

To Nurztob,

The one I'm looking at has provisional accredidation. That's why at the bottom of the page it implies that other universities won't accept its courses. That's why I'm wary of Keiser. I hope they get full accred, but until then I'm applying at "real" colleges only and caution others to look carefully before they leap.

To Nurztob,

The provisional only means not enough students have graduated from that particular program to meet the full accreditation. They meet the requirements in all other areas. I personally have contacted Columbia University, University of Ohio, USC, and University of Missouri (I want to get my masters) and they ALL will take Keiser. I am not sure who won't take, and why they wouldn't. UCF, U of F, University of Miami all take Keiser students here in the state as well.

The best thing you can do is contact the administration offices of the colleges you think you might continue your education with and ask them.

GOOD LUCK

I just have to put in my two cents about KEISER. I would not advise anyone to waste their money at that school. Take the time to do your pre-reqs and wait for a school that is established and known. I went to Keiser in Orlando maybe three years ago and had such a horrible experience. The staff there are like SALES people, and basically tried to push a crappy degree from there down my throat. Also, the science classes, micro/A &P etc are not at the level you need in order to be successful. Its at a highschool level. There are no labs so how can you learn? Also, if the college has provisional credit and you graduate from there you can only work at certain hospitals...with only a certain amount of beds. Be weary :uhoh21:....its better to take your time and do it right than to graduate with a worthless degree.

I am now in the middle of nursing school at a college that has been in existance since the 70's. I feel good about the level and quality of education I am getting here. The hospitals respect graduates from this college in the community.

You sound a little hurt. Wow, I remember this as well. For some of the degrees that are offer lets say at a Technical school. I probably wouldn't go there LPN, Coder, Health unit educator...etc. But there is a need. Some people just cant fit their schedule around other programs.

RN a worthless degree...must disagree with you there. I'm not sure if they offer a Art degree or Basket weaving. I not saying Art and Basket weaving is bad, but it's a degree and the open doors.

I don't want to totally disagree with you, I'm sure you have your own experience. From working at a hospital with Keiser students they had a pretty good surgical program and with the changes in place now looks like a good Nursing program.

If you can wait for the CC, please do. If you want to attend Keiser's RN it's an option. There should be only 3 concerns:

Can you sit for the NCLEX? Yes

Is it Accredited? Not yet, its a new program. (NLNAC filed)

(There are 2 nursing accreditting agencing NLNAC and CCNE that i'm aware of)

Money? Expensive vs wait

Good Day:

I went to Keiser in Sarasota Florida for one semester then tranfserred to another school. I found some of the teaching staff to be less than professional. One of the teachers only had an associates degree and taught us about lap dancing. I would talk to other students that are currently attending your local school to see how they feel.

Best wishes in your future endeavors.

Ruth Ann

Keiser sounds tempting, as I'd love to get started on my RN as soon as possible. I only have maybe another semester/semester and a half of pre-reqs left.

However, from what I've read, RNs are having a really tough time getting jobs around my area (Orlando) so that would be scary to graduate with $35k in debt and not be able to find a nursing job. :uhoh21:

I never said RN was a worthless degree, I am in nursing school and am dedicated to becoming the best nurse I can be! I was just saying that when comparing Keiser to other schools it doesn't even come close to the quality that established schools give. There are schools in the orlando area that offer night classes, Keiser is not the only one. And yes, I stand by my statement that Keiser's pre-reqs are similiar to science classes you would take in highschool. I have experienced this first hand.

To anyone who goes to Keiser, I wish them all the luck. Nursing school is hard work, and being a nurse once its over is even harder. We all need all the support we can get.

Hi, I just started the nursing program at Keiser in january 2009. It is an acredited University. It is also very expensive compared to miami dade, but good luck trying to get into miami dade. As far as some of the comments that their program sucks, I completely disagree. Keiser has one of the top percentages in their students passing the NCLEX. And a lot of hospitals at least the ones in florida are hiring a lot of the graduates from keiser.I just started clinicals this week and its awesome. Teachers actually care about you and try to help you as much as possible. The actual program is 16 months. My schedule right now is Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 1:30pm Monday through wednesday and from 6:30am to 2:00pm thursdays and fridays, which are our 2 clinical days of the week. Overall I like the school and their system of teaching, yes is expensive about $35000 for the whole program, but they work really hard to get you loans with the government, which the interest rates are super low.

Keiser is on provisional accreditation, it is not fully accredited......only the melbourne campus is.

when you check the statistics of the passing rate of the nclex for the keiser school, they range from 50% on most campuses. They have been graduating several classses now so I don't understand how they are not getting fully accredited.

on a positive note, graduates from there can go on for their BSN's at FIU
