I think lab attire is just like classroom. The blue polo and white pants.

In our orientation someone asked if our laptops needed a disc drive and the instructor answered no. So my laptop does not have one. But now I see that our Real Nursing Skills software is on a disc. : (

I am looking into an external drive, but does anyone else not have a disc drive and if so, any ideas?

I heard them say that at orientation too but the ADN booklet computer requirements say you need one. Maybe we won't use the discs while in class but I'm not sure. Thanks for the answer on the lab uniform.

My computer does not have a disc drive, but I bought an external disc drive on Newegg.com for about $20. It just plugs into my usb port. BTW, I am glad I am not the only one planning to buy my Neighborhood access disc on Monday. I am so excited to get started!!!

Warning! Sticker shock on that access code. It was around $230. I have not activated it yet.

I also have in my notes not to buy the access code until class started. So we were the polo tomorrow with white pants and white sneakers right? And did someone mention that we have to be wearing our ID badges as well? If so how do you plan to attach it to your uniform? Ugh I'm so nervous! I've done all the unit 1 reading and our first math assignment and all online stuff but I'm still stressed I'm forgetting something! Ah I just wanna do well lol!

Hi Melanie this thread is actually for students who applied this past august. We are actually starting our nursing classes this week. I believe there is another thread though for people applying for the fall 2014 program so you should check that out! That way you can talk to students who are still doing the application process.

I bought a retractable id holder from walmart. I think they also sell them at the bookstore.

Hello,

I'm a Fall 2014 applicant and I'm just wondering...

How long after finding out you were accepted did you have to complete the background check/physical/drug screen?

Was it right before classes began or after you found out you were accepted?

Also, did you do it on campus or did you have to go to another location?

Thanks and good luck in the program!!

We found out on day 18 if we were accepted. From that point on, there seemed like there was always a deadline... a meeting, deadline for fingerprints, urine screening (drug), physical exam, CPR certification etc. They are very detailed in telling you where to go and when to go there. Fingerprinting was done at the Police Academy building at IRSC, drug screening at a particular lab (locations in Vero or Fort Pierce). There is never a dull moment and you will feel a huge sense of relief once all the documents are turned in. My advice is don't do anything in advance. I did and had to re-do a few things (shots, CPR etc.) Good luck!
