Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

Turned in my app early Dec. for days at PC. Praying... My GPA is 3.62 so i hope it's high enough. Good luck to you all! :)

Hey All,I submitted my app 12/14/12. It just posted as recieved last week and I'm starting to become anxious. My gpa is 3.67 and I'm not sure how to feel about it. I seem to be getting conflicting info on cutoffs. If anyone hears anything please update me : ) I hope we all get to see each other in orientation. Good Luck everybody.

I browsed the thread for fall 2012 and seen they started receiving letters towards the end of march. Lordy.... The waiting stinks! They also had folks with 3.8 gpa getting alternate seats but then others with a 3.6 accepted??? Any idea how that would happen?

@tysmom from what I remember the advisor telling me even though your gpa is a big part of it, it sometimes doesn't determine your final position. Some people only complete the req. Prereqs and dont complete the generals so if they have to break the tie with someone in your same gpa range they most likely will pick the person who have completed prereqs and generals. She said it is done this way because you are more likely to finish nursing school easier without having to take your generals on top of the nursing courses. I'm sure people get accepted with just prereqs but it is highly competitive so your better off completing your generals to. I hope I didn't confuse you.

No.... Didn't confuse me at all. :) When you put it this way, im even more worried..... I have my prereq's done and nutrition.... Taking eng 2 & religion this semester to finish it all. :( geez.... Lol....

I know it seems like we are always jumping through some hoop but they will see in the system that the last of your generals are in progress and will be completed by the time the program starts so you will still be in a good spot when you start. I think that is great. I wouldn't worry at all bcus the wait is so long for the approval process you will probably be done by the time they send out letters.

Just turned in my application today (1/10/13). I have a 4.0 GPA but I feel a bit excited and actually a bit anxious at the same time. I keep thinking what if I missed something or forgot something even though I double checked and triple checked my application and required paperwork. I marked the calender and 8 weeks past deadline is March 12th (they said between 8-12 weeks). Will be a long two months! I am hoping for the P.C. night/weekend classes....anybody else wanting this place/time?

Hello Everyone! Had I known that the GPA requirements were lower for the spring, I would have applied for that program instead. Oh well. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens this go around. I am a first time applicant with a 3.56. I was pretty confident given my background in the medical field and current licenses/certificates (EMT, Paramedic, CPR, ACLS) but after reading the posts from this thread and previous threads, I'm not to sure anymore. But, you never know! I applied for Plant City nights/weekends as my first choice. I'll keep my fingers crossed for fall, but according to the others, I might be a shoe-in for the spring! I just want to get started and finish already!!! I'm currently enrolled in my gen ed. classes so maybe like previously posted, that will help too! Good luck to all!!

I am too considering I live in Orlando and might commute. Got a lot of decisions to make soon, assuming I get in that is... :D

Does anyone know approximately when orientation will be held?

Well this will be my 2nd time applying. The first time I was denied because I took Math for Liberal Arts I & II and those are not equivalent to College Algebra when pursing an A.S. degree so I took College Algebra and just applied again. I have over 80 credits at HCC. My pre-req GPA is low at 3.4. I had all A's and B's except for Eng I which I took back in '03 and I got a C...that's really screwing me. Although I know I really don't have that much of a chance I'm hoping I get in anyways since I'm done with all my classes. I have heard of students dropping because they can handle the core classes courseload along with their gen eds which sucks for us with low GPAs...hopefully the nursing committee sees this and puts a change into how students are accepted instead of focusing just on GPA. Good luck everyone. Hope yo find an acceptance letter in March :)

I have a 4.0 GPA too, also going for the P.C. Night/weekend. A long two months is an understatement, I'm already getting impatient but more anxious than anything to get this thing goin. Look forward to seein everyone in orientation.
