Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

Is anyone else going to have to miss class for orientation?

I'm taking online classes this semester. However, I'm going to have to leave my 3.5 month old for the first time :( . I'm working hard to get her to accept a bottle. I'm super worried she won't take one, so far no luck. My second never took one, but he was 8 months old by the time I went back to school. Here's to hoping!

Oh goodness... I am hoping your little one will cooperate.

I see that everyone is taking CPR classes and getting shots done, Do we need to get these things done now or wait until Nov when we meet and they give us more information in regards to what they want and papers that need to be filled out by doc for records?

It wouldn't hurt to get your CPR class done and out of the way. I personally choose to get my shots done now and not worry about trying to get a apt with the holidays coming up. For me, its just less stress with 4 kids and husband traveling.

Specializes in Neuro ICU.

Pretty much same here. I work in the Medicare field, so November/December are very busy for me, so i'm doing whatever I can while I have the time. Just 1 vaccine left (tdap), which i'm getting Saturday. After this I should only need the physical and varicella titer.

Couple family members wanted some new scrubs on Sunday, so I tagged along and tried some out. You ladies have it so good as there's so many nice options for you to choose from. Us guys have a tough time, most are "unisex" which seems to mean, "woman's scrubs that are plain enough for a guy to wear). The few men's that fit well don't seem to be available in HCC colors. Looks like i'll be spending $65 a pair on Grey's Anatomy scrubs as they were the most comfortable available in the right colors.

Hello Everyone, where can i find a cpr class in hcc? can i sign up online or would i have to sign up strictly there? is there a schedule up in the site?

JodypRN posted the link on page 63. I believe the next class is on November 5. Yes, the schedule is on the site and you can sign up and pay there too. It costs $25.00 plus a $3.00 lab fee. I just went to the one on October 1 and really enjoyed it.
The next two CPR classes with HCC are Nov 5th or Dec 3. Both classes are on a Monday from 5pm to 9pm. Is anyone interested in attending either session?

I am going on November 5th.

thank you so much! and does anyone know how exactly the shoes have to be? can it be all white sneakers, leather, open back, or leather? and whats a good brand that's comfortable?

I went to Scrubs N Stuff and bought Klogs Mission leather nursing shoes with closed toe and heel. They are very cushy and I liked them better than the Timberland Pro Reneva (and cheaper!) If you sign up online as a member then you can print a 20% off a single item coupon. It saved me $18 on the shoes. Not all Klogs styles fit the same, though. Just be aware if you order them online.

My $38 check have not been cleared yet. I dropped in the same box I dropped my application form for the program. The box that is right next to the admission office. Is anyone else worried for that as well as I'm???
