Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

I think that is including the prerequisite courses and books. It still seems like it would be closer to 7k or 8k, even with the prereq costs.

I thought the HCC website said roughly 10,000?
I think that includes the pre-reqs and all books, supplies, fees, etc.

My $50 background check finally cleared today. I had it done on 9/18. Does anyone else have on their receipt "criminal justice appli"? On the bottom it says RN. I just want to make sure they're sending the results to the right department.

Yes, I also have criminal justice and RN at the bottom. It should be fine, I think, since its all the same for all.

HESI test is actually a little bit of everything, A& P,chemistry, physics, reading, english grammar etc....I'm glad it is just for their information though.....

How are you all handling your vaccinations and physical without forms? I found forms on the hcc continuing education site, I wonder if they are same for us. Unfortunately it says ..for cont.ed. on the form.

All my checks are now cashed...thats a good sign. As far as vaccinations are concerned, I am waiting for orientation so that I will be provided with the correct paperwork.

They finally cashed my $38 check. Also ordered my nurse shoes (http://www.skechers.com/style/76690/work-felix-keystone/wht) today after making sure they'd be ok for the program. Being looking at aviator and skecher scrubs and they look very comfortable, might order some soon.

For anyone that has registered for the CPR class at HCC Dale Mabry for Monday October 1, 2012 from 5-9 I have just recieved the following email in regards to a change in where the class is being held as well as a change in the time:

Hello Allied Health Students,

Your CPR class has been moved to the HCC Collaboration Studio located at 1602 N. 15th Tampa, FL 33605. Class will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

I was not a happy camper when I received that email at 5:15 pm. The office was already closed when I called so I couldn't talk to anyone. Ybor is too far away for me to drive at rush hour since I am coming from NW Tampa (over an hour in traffic). I sent an email asking for a reschedule to the next class or a refund. What are you doing? Is it convenient for you? If they won't reschedule it, I may have to go...

Ybor is actually closer to me than Dale Mabry and the time works out even better even though it goes until 10..not looking forward to that. They should give you a refund or just put you for the next class since it's so last minute.

Guys as I mention before, the AHA holds their CPR class at Town & Country hosp on saturdays from 10-12:30 for $40. its a little more than HCC but maybe it will be more convenient for some of you....just a thought. jodypRN hopefully HCC will work with you in matter. good luck.

If you can't make that class, there is a class at Town N Country Hospital next saturday 10/6 from 10 am-12:30 pm. I can get you the contact info. I live up in Wesley Chapel and this one will be so much easier to get to with the vetrans expressway.
