Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

Thanks Rachanee. Have you guys ordered yours if so where did you place your order?

Just right here in Carollwood. That's whats so frustrating.

I wonder what's taking so long. Hopefully you get it today. I'm sure they would let you go pick one up from campus too.

Uniforms - Nursing Scrubs, Nursing Uniforms & Medical Scrubs - allheart

I'm a fan of the Cherokee and Dickies brand scrubs (used them while working in veterinary hospitals), particularly mock-wrap tops. The mock-wraps are nice for women, they have a bit of shape to them, instead of the large square tops. Dickies also makes nice pants with lots of pockets. A lot of them will have ID loops and scissor pockets which are also nice. I also am ordering my Littmann Classic II S.E. from allheart too.

Thats where I placed my prior orders, they have a sale going on now. When I looked on the appropriate uniform attire for hcc, it states that the hcc logo should be printed on a specific part of the sleeves, I wonder if that is optional or not. I did my background check and finger print today, one more thing off the check list.

I did read that the HCC student nurse patch (that you purchase at the bookstore) must be sewn onto the top, not optional.

just another added expense, I wont complain because it will be worth it in the end.

My GPA was a 3.3...I thought it was a 3.5, but when I checked, it said 3.3... :(

Are you guys buying your uniforms before orientation or waiting until after? Is there a place we can go to try on different types of shoes vs. just placing an order online for them? For the physical we will need~ Does HCC have a form that we need to use?

I am going tomorrow or Wednesday to get my fingerprints done.

I'm going to wait to purchase my uniform. That way I know for sure that any style scrub is ok as long as it is port wine/white. Uniform City is a good place to try them on.

I was thinking the same thing. The orientation is right around the corner.

Here is the info I just received from the Healthsciences department~

Shot info: ( in order to count, they must be physician signed)

1. Rubella, Measles, Mumps (MMR)

2. Tuberculosis

3. Polio

4. Hep B (if the dr determines that you need the Hep B with Hep B with titer, then you need that one to)

5. Varicella

6. Flu shots are required from semester to semester. We may not need one now and wait until we get in the program

Physical ~

* We will get forms at orientation that our dr will need to fill out

Our semesters are only Spring and Fall. No summer sessions

I hope this helps.
