Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

I am planning to apply for the spring program. just waiting on my grades to be posted. my grade for the final exam hasn't even been posted yet, so it's killing me trying to figure out whether i'll end up with an A or a B in the class. My gpa will land somewhere between 3.38 and 4.29, and I am stressing like crazy about whether I'll get in! Does anyone else feel like they will fall apart before we find out? LOL...driving me crazy already.

3.38 and 4.29? First of all how is that gap so huge? Second, how could it be over 4.0? :D

Haha...my mistake.=! 3.38 and 3.42

Welcome kvil713! I believe the cutoff for last spring was around a 3.4, but quite a few alternates also seem to get in each semester.

Welcome mramirez0213. Though it won't be official until later this week once my Micro lab grade gets posted, it's looking like I will be going in with a 3.52 also. We shall cross our fingers together!

Ok, final grades posted. I got an A in all 3 classes!! Woohoo! I will have a 3.42, which I am fairly optimistic about. Here's to hopefully getting in!

With a 3.52, I am sure you'll get in :) Good luck!

Thank you kvil713, I appreciate your optimism. Also I'm glad you got the high end of the GPA range you mentioned! :D

For a spring semester (unless the floor GPA jumps this year), I think a 3.52 should definitely make it in. I know someone who got in last spring with a 3.42 also. Sounds promising for all of us so far! The only downfall I've noticed is the lower GPAs that are taken in may not get their first choice in campus, depending on how many others request it.

Well... DM nights is my only option since Plant City nights is unavailable for a Spring start, to my knowledge. Therefore I need DM nights so that I can work, don't wish to live off loans for 2 years by doing days/afternoons-- have too many loans already! :(

EDIT: *Also* based on prior Spring semesters, I feel confident that a 3.52 will yield an alternate seat at a *minimum* versus a flat out denial. :)

Gradius, based on a previous thread that I found on this website for last Spring's entry, people with a 3.42 and a 3.44 were getting in. I don't even think you'll be an alternate. I am pretty sure that you'll get your campus choice. I definitely wouldn't worry if I were you.

Thanks for the support:redbeathe i really hope a 3.52 isn't a problem. i decided to pick basic daytime and pick dale mabry as my first choice, plant city 2nd, and south-shore 3rd. i have a question, if i haven't gone to any other colleges just hcc and from when i first signed up they have my high school transcript do i need another copy for the nursing application? and the background, physical, cpr certification we complete that once were accepted correct?
