I've been an lpn-homecare peds for about a yr and half.. I'm looking to relocate to orlando/Tampa area by the end of the yr the latest... Can anyone tell me the best places to start looking for work? I currently work for Bayada in Nj. I contacted Bayada in florida but they said the only hire lpn's per diem, if that... I need fulltime work or at least steady work. I would looove to work in a hospital. But ill try anything of course...

I would not advise the move to FL as an LPN who has homecare exp. Is it hard for you to land a job in the hospital in NJ? If not do that and maybe you will have a better shot. I cannot remember hearing of any hospitals hiring LPN recently. If you want to move to the bay or Orlando try LTC.

In Jersey, its 99% no go for lpn's in hospitals. There are the rare few that do, but they only do in-house hiring or you have to have crazy amount of experience... I'm all for working in LTC... I'm just tired of homecare. Even though its easy to get work, it's not always that stable. And that's what I need - stability, as well as somewhere where I'm always moving. I love my homecare pts but it gets complacent =\.

I have seen some LPN's at Orlando Health. I don't recall any at Tampa General or Florida Hospital.

I know at my facility they are not hiring LPN's due to the push for RN's and the lack of jobs of new RN's I think it would be even harder for LPN's. The insurance companies pay more out to hospitals that have a greater number of RN's. There are a few LPN's at my facility but they have all been there for 5-15 yrs.

My hospital is small and are hiring new nurses without a problem. I think a lot o new grads don't think to apply for smaller hospitals around the area.
