Help with Licensing by Examination in Florida- Electronic Fingerprints

  1. 0
    Hi everyone,

I am trying to get my paperwork together for taking the NCLEX and getting my license in Florida. I am not currently living there, but I am planning to move in 2 months before the fall semester.

My question is, has anyone had their electronic fingerprints done for the Florida State Board of Nursing while outside of the state?

I want to take the NCLEX before I actually move to Florida but I have designated Florida as the state I intend to be licensed in. Florida requires that electronic fingerprinting be done (Livescan) before they issue an ATT to candidates.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    kwyfld

The Florida department of Health has a list of vendors who can help outside of Florida. I used Fieldprint. Made an appointment the day before, walked in, scanned all my fingers, and got out in 5 minutes.

Thanks everyone for the help. I emailed the Florida Board of Nursing, and I received this reply:

Out of state and out of the country applicants are still required to submit their fingerprints electronically. Applicants who reside in an area where no Livescan machines are available or because of state laws cannot transmit their fingerprints electronically across state lines should contact a Florida Livescan service provider who has the capability to convert a traditional (hard card) into an electronic fingerprint card. Currently, L1 Identity Solutions and Fieldprint have been identified as providers that can perform this service. Because the Florida Department of Health retains fingerprints on any applicant who is required to undergo a criminal history screening starting January 1, 2013, those prints are retained in the Care Provider Clearinghouse. This Clearinghouse allows for the sharing of criminal history information among specified agencies. One of the requirements for the Clearinghouse is a photograph taken at time of fingerprinting. If your fingerprints are submitted without a photograph, you may have to undergo additional fingerprinting in the future.
Fieldprint has indicated to our office that they have Livescan available in all the U.S. states, except Oregon. You can register to have your prints taken at: https://florida.fieldprint.com/User/
Biometric Information Management (B.I.M.), Fieldprint, L1 Solutions and Ideal Identification Inc. have been identified as providers who allow applicants who are unable to get their prints taken by Livescan to send fingerprints to their office to be scanned and uploaded. You can contact Biometric Information Management at 614-791-3220. You can contact Fieldprint at either (888)859-4356 or 800.528.1358. You can contact L-1 Enrollment Services at (800) 528-1358. You can contact Ideal Identification Inc. at (866)288-6543.
Applicants needing fingerprint cards to send to Fieldprint, L1 Solutions or Ideal Identification Inc. can request them via email at Mqa_Nursing_Appstatus@doh.state.fl.us. Please include your current mailing address in your request for fingerprint cards.
I ended up traveling to nearest Fieldprint provider (2.5 hours away). They were able to take my picture. The worker that did my fingerprints said that I was the first customer that she had fingerprinted. So hopefully, she did it correctly.

When I filled out the online form with fieldprint to I schedule my appointment, there was a statement that said fieldprint cannot process fingerprints for employment, licensing, or apostille... But I'm guessing it will be ok for FL nursing license since that seems to be what all out-of-state people are using??

Is the livescan fingerprinting necessary? Can't someone go through their County Police agency? I heard is way cheaper as well. Thanks!
