Honest, in my opinion, Keiser is very expensive for an associate's degree in nursing. If it was a BSN, then I would tell you that $$40K for the program would be a smart investment.

Pros: you get your RN license, start working, get bonuses to pay for loan back from employer, get a private institution education-- smaller classes. be accepted faster than a community college.

Cons: very expensive, entrance test, (not sure) be on a waiting list for a few months up to a year, not all campuses are fully accredited.

I know this sounds kind of contradicting to what my honest opinion of keiser is--- but to me, if I have no other options of where to get my degree to get my RN license, I would definitely attend Keiser. (I know because I wanted to be an RN with my dearest heart).:nurse:

BumblebeeRN, Have you decided? I'm currently debting whether to attend Keiser myself and I'm soooo scared because of the tuition. Let me know any further information that you've gathered, I live in South Florida and heard my community colleges have a VERY VERY long waiting list but I'm not 100% certain yet, it's like impossible to get a hold of someone from the department or contact person that knows the answer.. GOOD LUCK.

To be honest keiser dont cost that much!

if you have your pre-reqs done, it will cost you about 18k! and take you 14 months (2 being preceptorship)

now if you dont have pre reqs, it will take you like 22 months and cost 40k

I figured in the long run it saves money and time. I was accepted into the LPN program for Feb, and they has the LPN-RN bridge so I'll be an LPN by the end of the year, and an RN by the end of 2010.. and I don't have to worry about apply for other schools and HOPE that I get accepted... I'm going to do it! I'm going to take the leap and start at keiser. :D

CSantons, can you give me a web address for Keiser's program. I would like to look at the GE requirements needed and I can never find a site with that info . They just ask you to submit your name, number and address then they call you and I could never get a straight answer from them. They wound't mail me info but kept telling me to come in. Strange....

ALL I repeat again ALL ALL ALL Keiser campuses have full accreditation with SACS. My campus, Melbourne, is Fully accredited through NLN as well. ALL again ALL Keiser nursing programs, once they have graduated enough nursing students will share the FULL NLN accreditation, they all have provisional accreditation through NLN until that time.

Keiser is the first, and as far as I know only Private university that NLN has approved for accreditation. It took them many hours and lots of work to get this done and this is not something that they take lightly because they know what it means to the future of their graduates.

What does that mean? This is a personal story of 2 friends of mine....An example, 2 Grad nurses, who graduated a local community college 2 years ago, a few months ago they both applied for travel nursing jobs. They both passed the background check, employment checks, BUT when it came to the school they attended, mind you it was SACS accredited just not NLN accredited, they were both told they would not be allowed the opportunity to work with that agency until they had 5 years experience since they did not attend a school that had NLN approval. I don't know if that is true with ALL travel agencies but is was with this one and they were devastated. It also means that if you decide to advance your degree the school more likely than not will accept your transcript because of the NLN accreditation.

I have been at Keiser for nearly 2 years now, I graduate from the RN program in July. Keiser, as with all schools, has its good and bad but I will tell you this, you will come out with a strong foundation and with a degree from a school that in most cases is highly favorable in the communities it serves.

HERE this is the website for the nursing program. If you have any further questions I will be more than happy to answer them

HERE are the pre reqs that are required, in most cases Keiser takes courses that were taken at other institutions.

I am going to school now at FIU

Community colleges in south florida such as MDC & BC have no waiting list. you get in based on gpa.

to the contrary, I know an aquantaince of mine who went to keiser and they told her that her name would be in a wait list of 2 years---- I thought it was a little odd since that program is super expensive.

and to me $18K is a lot of money to pay back for an associate degree.

just my 2:twocents:

Are you gonna go to keiser to lpn?

either way, I wish you the best of luck with your school plans.

I remember being there not too long ago.

My Bf just graduated in Dec from Keiser university in Daytona Beach!!! he paid over 40k for his classes and he did his prerequisites in a community college....to me its a waste of money unless you really want a small class size and want to finish quicker!...Good luck whatever you choose

you also have to take in consideration that if you do not complete the program, you will have a hard time transferring credits
