FSCJ Nursing - Spring 2016

Hey there,

I am very hopeful to be applying for the Spring '16 term! Finishing chemistry now and just micro left. I took the HESI just to get an idea of what areas I needed practice in because I felt like when I was studying it was SO random, I needed a better idea. I excelled in all parts except Biology and Math. I am taking Micro over the summer & will study heavily for the HESI and retake hopefully with a MUCH higher score. Right now my "points" are at 94 from all prereqs minus Micro and not including the HESI because I only scored a 69.5 and I KNOW I will do better next time. I look forward to chatting with everyone & getting any tips that anyone has.. and good luck to everyone with their studies!

Hi I have applied for Fall 2015, just putting it out there that I have 3 HESI A2 review books for sale. Elsevier 3rd edition Exam Review, Trivium test prep 2015 study guide/practice questions and Trivium HESI A2 flash card book (over 500 pg).

Anyone who has taken the hesi, can you tell me what to expect and what to study? I have a review book from fscj north but it feels so basic and I feel like I'm missing out on vital study material. I have an a&p cliff note book I am also studying as well as some hesi flash cards I found online through quizlet.

Any help in in the biology sections, a&p sections and math sections would be great!

I plan to apply to both the R.N. and LPN Programs @ FSCJ for the Spring of 2016. I was also considering looking for a school that has the R.N., BSN, and MSN degrees so that way I wouldn't have to transfer schools after obtaining my BSN @ FSCJ. Anyone have thoughts on that?

A few of us commented about this on the Fall 2015 Hopefuls thread.

How well did you do in Bio and A&P? Know cell functions, DNA/RNA transcription and translation, tissue types and functions, cellular reproduction (e.g. products of mitosis and meiosis and what happens in each stage), and cellular respiration. Also, I saw one or two on photosynthesis (one of the other girls mentioned it as well). I did well on both of those sections, though most people say they are the hardest for them.

Math, for me was very heavy on proportions. The thing that cost me a strong math score, however, was the conversion word problems. I haven't done conversions in a very long time and I didn't study them. I had several that were unit conversions (e.g. oz. to ml.) within a larger word problem.

Reading was easy. I haven't seen anybody complain about that section.

Overall, I got an 89 without studying anything. I think it depends on what classes you had most recently. I have also sat for the TEAS V. The HESI is similar in content.

I haven't seen a thread for FSCJ Spring 2016, so I thought I'd start one. Who all is planning on applying for this term start? If anyone is in the program already, any advice??

Hello everyone, I am also aming for spring 2016, but I got few question for you all. I finished my Chem, Hum Growth and Mac. I am taking P&A1 and Hum Nu for summer. P&A2 and MCB for fall 2015 can I still apply for spring 2016? Oh.. Also, I am taking HESSI on August. please let me know!
