Florida Location/ Facility Advice

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi All

After months of unsuccessful new grad job search, I've decided to broaden my search to include not only South Florida (SF), but also surrounding regions (thanks to suggestions from AN!!)

Other places being considered include Bradenton and Sarasota. Now, my mind is racing with possibilities such as visiting one day. I do drive, but I don't like driving those long distances. My research thus far reveals that Bradenton is small town. This is evident, as when I searched for travel options from SF to both places, there is very limited options for Bradenton (right now, flying is not an option, it's too expensive). No up-to-date info is on AN. Can anyone please share information they may have on Blake Medical Center and Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Lifestyle in Bradenton vs Sarasota. Info including, but not limited to:

Pros and con of each facility

Rental housing cost

Safe communities to live

General cost of living

Amenities

Entertainment/ shopping

Any additional info

Thanks

Jackson health systems recently posted a new grad position, kendall regional has the StaRN program for new RN's starting monthly now-call hca hospitals and get a hold of a recruiter. Mount Sinai is hiring new grads, call hr and get a hold of a recruiter. Palmetto hires new grads too. Coral Gables hospital has new grad openings as well. Start making calls and go to hr and meet the recruiters. It does wonders.

Pros and con of each facility: I don't want to identify those but I do love where I work with cancer patients :)

Rental housing cost: $1000-$2000/month depending where you want to live. Closer to city = $$$$

Safe communities to live: I lived in Carrollwood before. It was pretty safe. Live in Valrico now and it is REALLY safe. Gotta love the suburbs.

General cost of living: Pretty cheap. If you live in the suburbs prepare for a commute and traffic so gas $$$

Amenities: Lots of malls, Busch Gardens, Aquarium, St. Pete/Clearwater beaches across the bridge, Bucs/Lightning

Entertainment/ shopping: See above

Any additional info: Lots of nursing jobs!
