I believe so. It was part of the CNA program and a requirement in all health agencies that I have seen.

It's a requirement to get hired somewhere, but I did not have to show proof of current BLS to apply for my initial license. Technically you can be a licensed nurse without it, so I don't see why you need it for renewal.
If you are ACLS certified and you haven't gotten around to renewing your BLS, most ACLS teachers will do both at the same time for you.
