Fall 2013 FSCJ Nursing Student Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone! Wanted to go ahead and start a thread for our group. I've been following the spring and summer 2013 group a little and figured it might be a good idea to get focused for the fall 2013 group. I've completed all my prerequisites and took my NAT test. Got a 107 on the test and I'm sitting at a 93 will all the prerequisites. So I'm going into the application process with a 203. Does anyone know what the general cut off is? I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure everyone else is too. The only thing I haven't completed is the CPR. I read once that this can be done after acceptance into the program...is that true? Thanks everyone! Can't wait to start chatting!

Sam

I took my class at Orange Park Medical Center. The fee was like $55 for everything. I would go up to St. Vincent's and ask.

Thanks Beatrice91-

My points from my grades are 94 (Mostly A's but a B in a 3 credit A&P1 so lost some points there, and a B in ENC1101, oh and the Micro won't count since I am taking it this summer) The NAT wasn't too bad in my opinion, I scored 79 Academic Apt, 30 on Reading and 58 on Science- those are the "raw scores" - I didn't study much but I took the HESI twice this year so I felt "as ready as I could be" - lol

I am excited at the chance of even getting in for the Fall but now kind of stressed about the things I need to get done, I am a single parent to 3 kids and need to start figuring out my options if I do get in!

So just out of curiosity, would anybody know how many times one can apply per a semester? Thinking that April 1 was the deadline I had applied. However I am still in two classes that is about to end in May. Can I apply again so I can have the points from these two classes?

Hey guys, I am a bit confused on some of the post on here. My packet says the deadline date is June 1st...and that is also what the website said..Hope this is still the case because I dont take the NAT till May 8th. Also I hear you have to have the CPR class done before applying now does anyone know where I can go to take the class? A bit nervous on applying. I have a total of 99 for prereq. and have been studying my butt of for this test on the 8th. any suggestions please send them my way!!!! Thanks!

Beatrice I took my cpr class at St. Vincents it took me a while to get an answer on the phone though. Cgwelch I have the same problem I am in micro this semester and also applied on april 1st, I spoke to the woman in charge of applications and she said you can fax an updated transcript and have it added to your application.

Thats great Jencarlie. Even though you lost points you should still have a good chance of getting in. I have heard stories about students applying with a 4.0 and didnt get in but students who had less than a 4.0 got in over those students. Those students must didnt do too well on the NAT. You did excellent on both grades and the test so you are fine. Don't stress out too much, just take it easy and one step and one day at a time, You will be fine.

I got in touch with St Vincents today.. The next class is May 6th @ their Riverside Location- Conference Room 156 9am $25 cash or check, you don't need to register just show up and be on time. St Vincents Southside will have a class on May 9th 9am Main Auditorium, same thing just show up and be on time!

Hope that helps :-)

I have a friend that needs a certification as well so I am going to see what day is best for her, but I will be attending one of those!

For summer the last round of people they took when seats opened up was at 185.54, I was just below that so if someone got in with a 176 I'd like to know how that did that.

Thanks Jencarlie, I finally was able to get in touch with someone at St Vincents too after trying everyday for about 2 weeks. Which one are you going to? I am going to Riverside on May 6th.

I think I am going to the Thursday class at the Southside location.

Hi Everyone!

I hope to be applying for Fall 2013. I have a response to an email C.J. gave me and hopefully it will help many of you. I have looked over past posts from the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 in hopes of finding good information for the Nat. But, being that this is a new board can we post information (if you all don't mind) on this board of tips and suggestions on the Nat and anything else that is informative versus telling us to keep referring back to other boards. I don't mind looking, because I already have :shy: I just think it would be easier and more time effective. We could even copy and paste, but this is just a suggestion. I will do the same, if I see valuable information I will make sure I post it so we can all support each other in this process. I wish you all the best of luck. Please see below response from C.J.

Hi Sam, wow, great score. I want to be sitting in your shoes in 12 weeks. I have read that anything over 200 is a comfortable position to be in. I will have between 90 and 98 points going into the Nat but I really want to pull off an awesome score. Are there any suggestions you can recommend like what resources you used? A lot of people say work on speed, but knowing the material someone studied helps a lot too.

In order to be eligible to apply to the nursing program you will need to summit the following to the nursing department in a complete packet attached together:

1. Nursing Application

2. Students must pull a student copy of the FSCJ transcript from Connections showing that they have completed BSC 2085C, BSC 2086C, and MAC 1105 completed with a grade of "C" or better before applying. MCB 2010 C must be completed with a grade of "C" or better before applying or be currently enrolled in the semester before the nursing program begins.

The nursing department does not evaluate general education courses. (If coming from another school(s) all Transcripts must be evaluated by FSCJ Records Office before applying)

3. A copy OF the PSB-NAT scores must be attached to the nursing application (904) 766-6708 testing center.

4. CPR American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) A copy must be attached front and back

Acceptance into the program is based on the point system in the nursing packet that was emailed to you. The higher your points the better your chances.
