    HI new to the website.

I am going to the Rasmussen College for nursing 2 year program starting in july8/2013. Well for me, 14 months because I have the classes like college algebra and non-nursing classes all I have to do is take the nursing classes. I m a recent graduate of USF B.S. Obviously, most now know that R.N. must become B.S.N. if one wants to work in Nursing or work towards B.S.N. after two year R.N while working. It is one thing to have NLNAC but also it is just as important to have Regional Accrediting. NLNAC will help you get a job at most hospitals however, if you want to transfer into a 4 years college like USF or SPC....etc. The school must be Regionally accredited. Rasmussen is Regionally accredited but not NLNAC. They are in the process to get NLNAC. I HATE PRO-Profit schools but i did not want to wait for PHCC or HCC and graduate in two years when i can transfer to USF or SPC after Rasmussen. Then get close to finishing B.S.N. when PHCC/HCC graduates are just graduating. BUT my goals is to go to ARNP or CRNA in the near future. BTW, hospitals in TAMPA DO NOT LIKE TO SEE PRO_PROFIT SCHOOLS from what I have heard. Again I m only going here because its fast and transferable.

TEAS:70% overall studied about 3hrs. Some parts of the exam I did not complete.
I could have done much better but Rasmussen only needs 60%.

I know you decided on a school but I want to chime in anyways.

I graduate Rasmussen Tampa this September. Welcome adawg09, I will be at orientation, see ya there!

I had some credits transfer in, and went straight for RN. Rasmussen is regionally accredited, meaning it is easier to transfer to a BSN program at USF, and we are in the process of NLN accreditation. Which is retroactive, meaning when they get it, after I grad I still say that I graduated from NLN institution.

In general, I really have enjoyed the program. It's challenging, but doable (of course I have no life and no job lol). Most of the instructors are fantastic, my biggest gripe is that they don't enforce rules the way they should. People have been allowed to slide by showing up late everyday, sleeping in class, late for clinical, out of uniform, blatant cheating.... all this in the same group and NO discipline whatsoever.

Clinical sites are another story... I've spent most of my time at one hell hole of a disgusting nursing home, and may end up doing my preceptorship there. However, there is already a contract in place at the new Florida Hospital in Wesley Chapel, clinicals will start going there in the fall.

Several of our grads have been hired to Brandon regional, I have a job there too and hope to transfer to an RN position. some classmates work at other facilites including Bay Care, and pretty much have a job waiting for them once they pass boards.

Feel free to PM me about Tampa campus.

Are you going to a 4 yr college or staying at Rasmussen RN-BSN, after? If you are going to a 4 yr college, Can you tell me if the process is "easy" or you got in? I just want to know. Thank you.

I will be doing my RN-BSN at Ohio state or USF. I'm not going right after, I want to get settled into working before going back to school, and I want to pay off some of my student loans, and I might even get into a facility that will help pay for that BSN. Keep in mind there are a couple courses that those state schools require that an ADN doesnt, such as chemistry and statistics. I'll be taking those at HCC. Rasmussen is regionally accredited, and if you have a decent GPA you shouldn't have much problem transferring.

Right now I'm just focusing on getting ready for my preceptorship and NCLEX!

Rasmussens BSN is completely online, like most schools, but costs way more just because it's a private school. I'd also rather go to another school that has a reputation, most people have never heard of Rasmussen.... showing that you got your BSN from a 'known' school seems to give you more credibility.

I'm thinking of attending rasmussen also. Are the classes difficult? What about clinicals? Do you attend them at hosp. And nursing homes? I'm asking because I'm thinking of attending either this school or j'renee...
