Everest College for Nursing?

U.S.A. Florida

what do you guys think about everest (tv) college offering a rn program? would it be worth it compared to a community college at citrus after your prerequisites theres a year and a half wait. and well at everest there is no wait...

Specializes in Tele.
If a school has to run continuous ads on TV to attract its students, shouldn't that raise a red flag? Notice also the time slots and programming during which these ads run ... never do you see them running during prime time ... very different target audiences. Everest ranks up there with University of Phoenix and Kaplan University in my book, I would never count on them to teach me anything about nursing.

I totally agree!

I'd rather wait, and do it the hard way. In the end, its a better worth it degree, than a degree that I cannot transfer anywhere.

how were the entrance exams... what is the outlook for a 23 year old who has been out of college ( a cc) for over 2 years now....i am a fast learner though i figure if i just study the material i can get passed it.... please advise. Thanks A lot!!!!

Also the selection process... is it first come first serve? As in who ever passes the exams, gets passed financial aid, and passes the background check the fastest gets in? or is it the highest test scores that get priority?

The entrance exams were pretty easy, for me at least I have been at chaffey on and off for 3 years with random general ed. and had little difficulty with the first exam, I went through to calculus without a calculator on the math portion, and the reading was straight forward. The PSB-RN test you take is what I worried about but again it turned out to be lackluster, of course I scored >97%tile for all test so easy for me may be different for you. The selection process once you have completed the initial testing phase and interview is first-come first-serve as far as I know. They may look at scores but I don't know how relative that is.

Thank you so much for the info.... I never got as high as calculus.. :-/ I think I am still going to give it a shot..... Thanks again!!!!:yeah:

I don't think they run commercials for there ADN-RN program at Everest in California. It's very sought after program and strictly word of mouth right now. So many people interested and not enough spaces available. And by the way "bumblebee" or whatever - it is the hard way and there is a degree - just no waiting lists for those who can get in and feel it's worth the price tag. Like me! I have a degree from a UC campus, so I don't take the "easy" route for a lesser result. It happens that when you have a family to support and childcare to pay for, two years accelerated is way better than 3 years and a wait list! :) Good luck Long and Jaxee. I am sorry I am late getting to this Long. I haven't come on here in ages. If you need any more advise I would be happy to help. Persistency and commitment is key!

Jaxee dont worry about it lol, the basic requirements is Algebra for the most part. The test just never ended for me and kept going till the point I needed a calculator to do the problems. But most of the other people in my class didnt go much further than Algebra.

NubScotty really??? That is awesome!!!! I just need to study the material specifically.....Are you going to the Ontario meto Campus?? Would you like a part time job?? I am looking to hire a tutor for 1 month 3 days a week before the test...... just a thought I am willing to negotiate the pay.... ;) PRETTTTYYY PLLEEEEAASEE

]Jaxee - If you'd like, I can send you a nursing entrance exam guide I found on allnurses.com available for download. It's the McGraw Hill Nursing Entrance Exam. I heard it's a great reference to study for the science portion, something the other books out there are really lacking. The rest of the guide seems up to par with brushing up with all of your basics w/ reading comp, Math, etc. Let me know!

]nubScotty & chikkity,

you don't understand how thankful and relieved I am to hear your input in this! There's a lot on the line for me as far as getting accepted or not, as this will literally make or break the whole nursing career for me. I really have no other option besides Everest, so I'm going to make sure I'm prepared to the best of my ability for this entrance exam coming up. Anyways thanks again for the replies. Jaxee get back to me when you're free! I'm like 100x more nervous about everything now, I don't wanna let this opportunity slip away!

Hey long YES PLEASE that would help...I guess I will see you there! ;)
