Concorde in Jacksonville?

U.S.A. Florida

I tried to do a search and there doesnt seem to be anyone that has gone to the nursing program at Concorde in Jacksonville. I was accepted into their Spetember class with the option of starting later this month if sopts become available. I know there are Concordes in other cities but Im sure that every city has different experiences. Any comments, good or bad, would be appreciated.

yeah I took the test at fctc week before last and failed the math portion they said something about me needing to take a refresher course or something like that

I dont have time maybe I should try concorde again I took a pre test at concorde and passed but never went back to take the net because I was trying to get into fctc the price there is great (fctc) and they have a great program from what I hear (my cousin graduated from there)

but back to concorde has anyone graduated from there or know anyone who has I really want to attend but I am always reading something negative about the place lol

I went to Concorde for the LPN program, I dropped though. I go to Sanford Brown now.

O yeah? Was it the TABE or Critical Thinking Test? If it is either I am thinking that just getting the math review that people have posted on here and practice a little bit. The math was High school math and I was a bit scared myself since I havent had any math since 1999 in college and I taught the lower grades in elementary school. I went to the library and checked out some practice nursing exam books and pulled off a 12.9 on the TABE and on the Critical Thinking, if I am remembering correctly, I had a 84% Composite.

If you really want to go to FCTC, I can only suggest that you take the two months to brush up on your math skills and take the test again. They have 2 new day and 2 new night classes a year so you still have time for the next entrance dates. For the same price FCCJ, (if you dont mind going to North Campus or Yulee) has three new classes a year also. You cant beat $5K for EVERYTHING (tuition, books, uniforms, supplies, NCLEX-PN EXAM, and all the other misc. fees colleges tend to get you for). Lets just say you go to Concorde and you jump through all the hoops to get there and dont like it. That time that you spent at Concorde couldve been the time you were using to go over the math.

I was initially going to go to Concorde and despite being given a date to start in September I prayed on it and it just does not feel right for me to go that route. Not to speak ill of Concorde because I am sure that they work for some people but they just dont work for me.

If you would like me to help you brush up on your math I am more than willing to help a future prospective nurse out, just send me a PM. I say give FCTC a shot since it seems that where you would prefer, because it looks like you are second guessing yourself with Concorde. Like I have always told my students, "Go with your first answer and never second guess yourself".

Yes, It was the Tabe I should have done better but I hate math AND I was tired that day. KTeacher2Nursing thanks for offering to help me with math. Off topic but do you know anything about the Florida nurse forgiveness loan? http://www.nslfp.com/

I am in the RN program at Sanford Brown, I LOVE it. It is tough, and comparable to FCCJ and SJRCC (from talking to friends in other programs). Sanford Brown gives more one on one than SJRCC. I don't regret my choice at all.

You are very welcome. Just let me know. As for the NSLFP it is similar to the Teacher Forgivness Loan. As long as I taught certain areas for the year they would send me a check payable to the loan company and I would just sign it and forward the check to them and it was posted. Last year I got less than $600.00 because of the decrese in funds availablity. Therefore, looking at the program it seems the same. The only difference between this program and the other state tuition forgiveness program is that this one includes LPN. The hard part would be getting hired at one of the facilities that qualify so that you can take advantage of the program.

I am delighted to see that you are happy with your program.

I would like to knock out a couple of courses. Which courses should I or could I take at FCCJ that Concorde would give me credit for?

I have also been accepted for the concorde program. My problem is paying for it.

After taking the net and passing with a great score, I was wisked off to the financial aid chick to be told after all the aid i will receive i will still owe over 8000 due before/by the first day of class.

I can't take out a personal loan, I'm unemployed, bad credit, help. I know everyone in there is not able to afford the bill past maxed out grants and loans what else is out there

Oh and i am going through worksource for their 7000 grant....keeping my fingers crossed

They won't allow you to make payments? When I was enrolled in their LPN program I was able to make payments.

I was told by the admissions rep that they don't allow monthly payments for rn program. I was only given the sallie mae smart loan option, which requires good credit or a co-signer. Maybe if the worksource funds come through they might allow the in school payment concorde loan for the final 1500.
