Day 9 to 2. I like it so far. I am starting to realize that even though I have taken an MA class there are alot of thing that they are going over that I DIDN'T know. So much for my previous education!

My Boyfriend and I were talking and he brought up a really good point about Keiser; They had me take a "placement" test to see if I would have to take basic math or college algebra. I scored low so I would have had to take a basic math class before I took the college algebra. The NET test has college algebra on it so they knew I wouldn't pass it before I even took it. They just wanted me to keep giving them my $20. And of course they were trying to get me to take another program!

good morning everyone...i just finished my first week at concorde..we have 30 in our class and so far everyone seems happy with their choice to attend...some are returning after taking their LPN course through concorde...the classes are very intense as far as we do 1-3 chapters each day...each day being a different subject...next week everyday will begin by turning in homework, a little review, take a test and begin the next 1-3 chapters...i do believe as more people hear about the program there will be a longer wait period to get in...we did have a few people this term who have to wait...so if you're interested start getting everything done...esp. the financial aid..i'll let everyone know how next week goes as far as the test...seems like the teachers will do everything they can to make sure we pass...wish me luck! have a great weekend!!

Hi flpisces,

I live in Guam (military) and will be transfering to that area and is thinking about Concorde but I'm soooooooo scared!!!!!!!!! I'm concerned about the classes, how it will be, if it a good decision for me. I've heard so many bad things about Concorde in Jax but very few good things. I'm so glad that you are in the program, hopefully you would be able to fill me in on your schedule, how your day is on a daily basis there, please!!!!!!! This would help out tremendously!!!!!!!!!! Last but not least, what pre-reqs do Concorde require prior to entering the nursing program? I thought because it is a vocational school that there are no pre-reqs??? Help please:eek: Thanks!!!!!!

Glad to see this thread! I actually have an appointment at Concorde tomorrow to go over my transcripts to see if they will honor my general ed credits from FCCJ. I am supposed to start in the Sept class of RNs so I am anxious to hear what people are saying about their experiences with them!

I would rather go the community college route but don't want to wait another year to apply again (didn't get it for fall 09).

Just a followup on my visit to Concorde in Jacksonville today. I was not impressed.

I had a 10:00 appointment and they took several walk-ins before me. They wanted me to take an evaluation test first to see what program I would fit into even though I am only interested in the RN. So to make a long story short, I left. If I was not comfortable with the way they handle admissions, I probably would not be comfortable with the school either.

So I am very disappointed but will refocus on applying for the next class at either FCCJ or SJRCC again. I may get my CNA to bump my points up. My other choice is to apply for the accelerated BSN at JU or UNF since I already have a BS degree in Information Systems.

Good luck everybody!

I know FCCJ's deadline for fall '09 is not until June 1st. And you can apply for spring and summer programs as well.

hi there ishep79...concorde does have pre-reqs, it's just that once you're accepted into the program you're in...meaning you do not do pre-reqs and then apply to the RN program...the pre-reqs that i'm taking now are microbiology, algebra, dev.psy, a&p 1 and eng....later, we'll have chem, a&p 2, and speech..we start nur.1/clinicals in 2nd term...we go from 8-12:30 except on thurs. we go til 2:30...so far it seems as though the teachers try to help any way they can..it is alot of studying but you have to remember it's a fast-track program that only takes 15 mos. to get a 2yr. degree...hope this helps you

Hello flpisces, I'm so happy I found you on line. I have so many question about this school but no one seens to know much but you. Well, I'm currently attenting FCCJ, I'm taking human growth as my last pre-req, but I have concord in mind as plan B because my points are no too high to be accepted for the fall at FCCJ. Anyway, I took the pre entrance test at concord and I scored 19, so I have the green light to take the NET but I'm kind scared to take the NET at concord because if I know if I don't do well I have to wait for another year to take it ove. How is concord entrance test, is it hard? Can u tell me on what I should focus on to pass the entrance test? I was told that the test is only reading and math is it true? Also I headt that they give credit for the pre-reg from FCCJ is it true, bacause if so I would only have to take speech and my tuition would be much cheaper because if I have to pay for full price I would not be able to get a loan ( bad credit). how long is the test? Do they give u the score right after the test? Also I was told that if a person goes to Concord for RN or anything else, that they would only be able to work in the state of Florida, meaning concord degree is not valid outside Florida because of their accreditation, is it true? Can you go to a diff. school after Concord for your bachelors? Also did u say that clinicals start at 6:30 Am, and you not really in school from 8 to 5. I'm sorry for asking u so many questions, I'm so anxious to get your response already. Thank you so much for keeping everybody posted. Please, don't forget to tell me on what I should study to make sure I get a good grade on the NAT. Thank you

I am going to call concorde in just a little while. I have been working on my pre-req's at fccj and I only have micro left and I am suppose to start that next week. If anyone has anymore info to share I would love to hear it. I want a faster route, I didn't have enough points to apply to the fall program at fccj. Is this a good idea or one I will regret?? Please let me know if anyone has any thoughts on it. THanks.

ok, I just called and spoke to Linda. I go and meet with her thursday at 9:00. I will be taking a general test??Anyone know what this is and how do I prepare for it??I have never taken the Net either, can anyone tell me about that? I hope this process is not so painful as it sounds, the only thing I didn't like when I talked to them, is she said depending on how I placed on the test determined LPN or Rn, I want to do RN all the way, I do not want to waste that time or money. I am so nervous.

Yes, I know the kind test you talking about, I had to take that test also. For you to be able to take the NET you will need to score at least 17 points on this test, anything less than 17 they wont let you go for the RN and you only able to take this test one time per year, but if you do well on this test the grade is good for one year. The test is 50 questions, 10 or 12 minute, not sure, so the trick is you need to answer as many possible to make sure u get at least 17 out of 50. When I took the test I wasn't even prepare for, I went to concord to get some inf. took the test on the same day and score a 19 which I was surprised because I guesed most of the questions. The test involves a little math, verbal and nonverbal such questions as lets say they say they give u 5 words which of this word does not match, somenthing like that but it's no time to think over u need to go really fast. I also took my pre req at FCCJ, I have everything for concord except speech. I'm kind going over the material to take the NAT at concord. I'm going to try my luck and put my application in for FCCJ I only have 154 points but u never know. Well. good luck. let me know how u did
