CARLEEN Home Health School -- Is this school legit?

  1. 0 Hi everyone ...RNs, PNs, students and all the wanna-bes like me. Can anybody tell me if they have heard or has any experience with this school -- CARLEEN HOME HEALTH SCHOOL? Its located in University Drive, Plantation FL. Coz ive never heard of this school ..even the name sounds -- umm, unprofessional?. They dont have a website too. and for their clinicals, you have to do it in Nassau,Bahamas. A relative of mine is trying to get in this school for RN and she says that since im waitlisted anyways for PN, to try this school coz they are currently accepting students. On Superpages.com (i told you, they dont have a website!), i found 6 reviews. and one reviewee said that this school has just been approved by the board of nursing to to conduct PN and RN classes.

    Any inputs out there??? thanks

Go to the board of nursing for your state and see if it is approved, because a school can say anything they would like.

It sounds scammy and shady to have clinicals in another country. I have only heard of scam-schools with this practice.

I have two women who I work with going to this school. One is an LPN-RN and the other is in the generic RN program. Personally, I have always thought it was very shady when they first told me about it. From what I understand, you don't have to have any pre-reqs or take an entrance test to be accepted to their programs. Now, do you really want to go to a school like that? Im pretty sure that they have said that the school is accreditated, but I am still skeptical. Going to clinicals in the Bahammas? No website?
    Do you research!!

I actually attend this school if you call the nursing board this school is approved for ADN program. You do have to take an entrance exam the same with any other school. The first two prereq. that are required in her school are anatomy and pharmocology and then you continue on with your nursing core courses. You are also required to give her your college transcript so she can add any prereq. taken to add to your nursing credits before she can award you your certificate of completion. So pls. found out for yourself instead of he said she said call the school, with all the waiting list out there for nursing there are schools out there just call the nursing board they are your first step before going to any school. All the best to all nurses to be...

From what I understand you do have to take the NET which is there entrance exam. They have a PN program and a RN program. The PN is 11 months and the RN is 20 months. There is no Financial Aid which means they are not accredited but they are approved by the Board of Nursing. One of the main things is that if you, decide to further your studies, you may not be able to attend a University that is accredited. If anyone has graduated from this school or currently attends, please chime in and let us know your experience with getting a job and if you have been able to get your BSN degree. And do you really do clinicals in the Bahammas. The school is actually pretty affordable.

    @fitness1st

    hello to all,

you mentioned the price being affordable, if you don't mind what was the price? i too had contacted this school, but i think they mentioned not giving prices over the phone. don't know anything about the school but there professionalism wasn't up to par when i called.

i have tried to steered myself away from these private schools because it makes no sense to me. public schools(mafatter, sheridan, atlantic) have no wait list, are accredited, affordable, and offer fasfa. there is also a new one in deerfield, north broward tech. center. seems to be well organized @ $12k.

I agree with you on the private schools especially for LpN. My circumstance is a bit unusual and I am trying to get advance placement in a RN program or even a LPN program due to me completing about 65% of an accl BSN generic program out of state. Very hard to transfer nursing programs and I am finding that some privates don't have a problem with me transferring in. But money is an issue. So if anyone has suggestions on adv placement I would greatly appreciate it.There cost of RN is somewhere btwn 10,000 and 11,000

Please tell me more about the school So about the Bahamas that is not included in the base price? If not do you have to stay at the specified hotel? How long is each trip ? Can my husband( he's skeptical about safety he is even willing to stay in a separate room) go without drama ? Or do they allow cellphone usage due to the fact you are out of country and need to check in at home? Airplane or cruise ship? do they do ati?( most schools do it together as a class)Do they give extra credit ? Do you see anyone fail class ? Thanks so much!

Hi, did you finished the nursing program? If you did, would you tell me if you felt prepared to pass the nclex exam? How were the clinicals in Bahamas? I heard horrible things, please help.

This school along with all the others you see being advertised on the Maury show are quacks. If the school is not accredited by the CCNE or NLNAC, you are getting a bogus and limited degree. Look for approval from the U.S dept of education as well.

Accreditation from the Fl state board of nursing allows you to sit for the NCLEX but the day you decide to get a BSN or MSN you will not be able to. Go to a REAL college or university to get a REAL degree. (MDC, FIU, UM, BCC, Barry;etc)

    DO NOT be fooled!

and you should be able to answer your own question with the facts you have already: NO website, clinicals in bahamas..those are red flags..go to a reputable school my friend.

i totally agree! but i finally did meet someone who attends the school, she is already a lpn going for rn. she said she doesn't recommend it for one looking to become lpn.

either way they won't be getting my money!
