Broward College starting Jan 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Have been hearing that BC will be requiring math prerequisite and may be dropping Chemistry pre-req for nursing program for students starting Jan 2013. Please post any specific information you have received from the school. I have emailed them but have not heard back. The people on the phone are not exactly sure what's going to happen.

What does everyones 'Limited Access Application Information' current status say?
Btw, from what I've read in other applicant threads, it looked like they don't start posting updates or acceptances until all apps are in and they've reviewed them together.

That is true. You won't know if you have been accepted or not until about a month after the application deadline

BC has now posted a new just updated admission form clarifying the pre-reqs for Jan. It is definitely clearer and I will meet the pre-reqs to apply for Jan. YAY

I heard we hear 3 weeks after the deadline, i was just wondering if my status was normal.

Just did. CHM still showing as required. My grade is there.Interesting that Math class I just took to meet the new requirement is not listed as required. In fact, the degree audit shows the 3 math credits and grade as not accepted towards degree.

My math (calc) is shown that way also, all my chemistry (gen chem 1,2, organic chem 1,2) is under that category.

Just called them, and they messed up again on my audit.

Im glad they got ride of the point system, it wasnt really fair to get 5 points for something you did in highschool.

Hey guys, I just submitted my application Thursday and I was looking at the new requirements and I read that they will choose the highest GPA and Hesi scores. I knew about the GPA, but the Hesi scores is pretty new to me, I thought you just had to meet the cutoff and it was just based on points. I have a 3.5 pre-req gpa and my overall hesi is an 86.4. Hopefully that's enough to get in .

It's really confusing right now. I don't think anyone really knows exactly how this admission review process is going to work or what the likely cut-offs will be.

Can someone help me find the application? I cant seem to be able to get to their site, not sure if its down or if its my computer.

thank you

I think its down

a couple of advisors told me they only look at your core area gpa. Its no longer based on a point system.

What about HESI scores?
What about HESI scores?

Everything is updated onthe BC's Nursing website; and it clearly states that GPA and HESI score are the two major factors in their decision.
