Have been hearing that BC will be requiring math prerequisite and may be dropping Chemistry pre-req for nursing program for students starting Jan 2013. Please post any specific information you have received from the school. I... Read More

- 2Oct 11, '12 by YourSoulVainYou have to finish your HSC/CAE certifications to actually begin the nursing program. Log in to MyBC and go to registration->add/drop-> search for HSC---- (insert appropriate course numbers) and CAE0617, which is Prevention of Medical Errors - Online.

There shouldn't be a problem with adding these classes right now. They have registration dates that allow almost anyone to join them at any time. I joined CAE0617 in August and even though it says the class date range is December 4-7th, I completed it last week and already got the certificate.Friedrice328 and BCangel2bRN like this. - 0Oct 11, '12 by Getting To GreatOn the chart, it stated that they want a general ed math (area 5) as part of the pre-req for the new admits. What math course are they speaking of? Is it any credited math course or is there a particular math course they are speaking of? I don't know, so can someone help me with this question? Thanks and congrats.
- 0Oct 11, '12 by Getting To GreatQuote from Larimar7What math class did you take? Have taken calculus and other math class in the past; and since I did not know what general ed math (area 5) meant I ended up registering for college algebra. If their willing to take my other math courses, I will drop college algebra so it doesn't affect my GPA. It is so difficult to get in contact with some at the health science department to get some questions answered. Thanks.I finally met with a central counselor and was told would need to take a math class to be accepted for Jan even though I have already taken CHM1032 and all the other pre-reqs, so i'm now taking mfg116 in order to meet the NEW requirements for next year admission. And was told that other math classes other than college algebra are accepted such as the one i'm taking. This just sucks - would not hve spent the money and time to take a math class in 6 week semester if could still use CHM1032. They are making a big mess for all of us....

If you didn't take any math before, you need to take PERT placement test to determine how many math classes you need (it might be more than one).On the chart, it stated that they want a general ed math (area 5) as part of the pre-req for the new admits. - 2Oct 12, '12 by benincasaQuote from NeudiaThat is not necessarily true for everyone. Some people had to have MAC completed before they applied for January. If there are questions about what classes we should be taking, I think its best to see an advisor, preferably a health science advisor. That way we don't confuse each other since everyone's situation and academic journey is unique.

The math requirement is college algebra (MAC1105) or higher .Last edit by benincasa on Oct 12, '12 :**Reason**: missing infoGetting To Great and wwick13 like this. - 2Oct 12, '12 by wwick13I agree with everyone seeing a advisor!!! Its hard to wait until the meeting in nov.

Looking at my 'degree audit' on mybc with my transfer transcripts they used my calc (MAC2233) and organic chemistry 2(CHM2211) instead of chm1032 and mac1105, I think because they are higher courses then req they took them with no problem....but thats just my case, yours might be different.

Is anyone taking out a loan for the program through BC?? Im starting to gather info on itLast edit by wwick13 on Oct 12, '12 :**Reason**: left out partGetting To Great and benincasa like this. - 1Oct 12, '12 by wwick13Quote from Juliansmom2011What math class did you take? I usually have to go in person to talk to someone, or make a appointment.Over the phone they barely help. Its annoying I know but its worth the piece of mind.Getting To Great likes this. - 1Oct 12, '12 by RNbound2013For those who have been accepted for Jan. 2013:
