U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone!

This is a thread for anyone applying for the January 2012 class at Broward college for the generic nursing track. July 16th was the date to start applying and I believe it closes sometime in October. How many points does everyone have? I had to defer my seat so I will be starting in January for sure at north campus! :D if I can be of any help with questions pertaining to getting in or the HESI I will be glad to help! Good luck everyone!!

hi, so i know i posted a comment a couple of weeks ago regarding my hesi and teas exams.... well they're this monday and wednesday. i am actually studying at the moment and have been all week. i finished the entire math portion of the hesi book and i also signed up for a math teas prep course at mdc kendall, since i can't use any calculators on that exam, i am a bit worried i haven't really focused on the hesi science because i am studying already the science from the teas book, yeah it has a couple of more sections but it should be the same stuff right???? i did read something that the hesi had a lot of questions about joints and muscles??

oh and my biggest concern is something i just read about the bc program, one that the program and professors are horrible ( which doesn't bother me that much, because i a good and dedicated student will do great anywhere) and the bigggg one is that the bc is based on a point system, and if you live in broward that's one exxtra point, what the flip!!!%^$#&^(*@# i dont even live in broward! and if you took some hosa class in high school you get one more point as well, i went to private school, those classes aren't even offered. please i need my questions answered. i have been crying all week because of how stressed out i am and because of how badly i want to get into any of these two programs, and that information is freaking me out. because i know i will get an excellent score but now these points are stressing me out even more. ohhh i forgot to mention i take the hesi on monday at 9 am in boca and the teas wednesday at 10 in dade. and im spending 140 on tutoring this weekend.

please help me!

if you're worried not worried about doing well in these exams and have done well in your pre-req classes then you have nothing to worry about. yes broward college goes on a point system but the majority of these points are based on your gpa, only 5 points for hosa and 1 point for broward residency, the other 16 are all based on your gpa. last application period they took people with as low as 7(?) points. they do also look at your hesi points. so if a broward resident who was a member hosa but fails the hesi and has a gpa lower than 3.0 they will not be considered above someone who has a higher gpa and hesi score just because they don't have hosa and broward residency points. chill out and save the tears for later, i hear we'll need them in the program, that's the hard part.

Hi guys by any chance do u guys have any of the nursing process 1&2 books left to sale

Lol thank you so much for your kind words. I ended up getting an 82 on my hesi. I hope it's good enough to get in. I'm going to apply sometime next week. Because I need to wait for my Miami dade transcripts to be available. I hope I get it. Praying so much !

Does anybody know what the point or gpa cut off was for the Jan 2012 program?

Can someone tell me what my chances of getting into the program at Broward College would be. I received B's in all my pre reason except for Enc 1101 I got a C. I graduate with my AA on Friday 5/4. My overall gpa for HESI is 82.80% anatomy 92%, grammar and vocab 76%, math 86% and reading comprehension 84%. Overall my gpa is a 3.0 so I am also considering applying to Nova.

hello,

I am little confuse about that deferred seat from some students for the nursing program. I thought BC doesnt have a waiting list. each time everyone has to reapply?, so if some ppl deferred their seat for this august 2012 coming up, does it means there will a limited seat for the other ppl coming in? It got me a little anxious, because i applied for the August with 9pts, and i really want to get in, with all those deferred seat from other ppl, would that take my chance away to start the program in August?

What was the Jan/May 2012 cut off points? I'm applying for Aug and only have a total of 5 points =/

For May it was 7 pts

do you think i will get in with 9pts, 3.2 GPA ? i am so stress and cant wait for the result.

Not sure if you're asking me, but I can't answer that. The cut off point it determined by the number of applicants, each application period. So while for May this year they cut off at 7 pts and a gpa of 3.0 I don't know what it'll be next time. You will just have to wait and see. If you have not done Microbiology they will ask you to defer until you have. If you are applying for jan 2013 or beyond you will need College Algebra as well as some other classes that were not previously required to apply or enter the program.
