Yes. If 20 people deferred their spots (doesn't have to be for next semester, could be for another semester later on as well) then 20 spots are now opened up for others.

Can someone give me some tips on how to study for OB? I keep hearing that it is a mess and not organized and so many people are not passing. Any advice would be appreciated. I start OB in January and would like to start studying now. Thanks!!!

get the book 'maternal newborn nursing.. reviews and rationales' it's an amazing book, that after you read your lecture book, it gives you the key points on each topic, and also get the lecture book clinical companion, that is an amazing read as well-- by reading that after your lecture book, you will do ok.

Thanks for the information BumblebeeRN. I will certainly use your advise. And yes I'm at North and some students who were getting B's in the past classes need 90's on the final just to pass the class. They complain that they don't know what they are supposed to read. I just want to be prepared.

Man, thats rough. You'll have to get back to me about how you made it through in March. Which specialty are you in now? It really stinks that OB is so disorganized. It was the course I was most looking forward to.

wow! that's tough!!

yup, the reviews and rationales series of books are great! it's an easy read, gives you what you need to know point by point. my baby was 2 months old when i was in the class.

im so happy those days are over for me!

oh, ask those students that you know that are in ob now for copy of the syllabus, so you know a ballpark of what topics you should be reading-- and what chapters.........

the syllabus should at least give them a guide of what to study, even if it says chapter 1-20 or whatever, that way you will have a heads up on what you need to do.

im a current student right now at central campus. you guys seem sooo exited about it which is great stay with that attitude, but prepare to hate it towards your second semester....bcc sucks big time. they failed ppl for stupid reasons. my class was the first one based on gpa average to be accepted we had pretty much smart ppl in our class. but bcc has a business with the nursing program ahhh big advise do not buy allllll the books dont please dont waste ur money. just buy ur skills books "mandatory " u only will use it maybe twice the only book u really need is the drug guide and perry and potter thats about it u dont need anything else trust meeeeeeeeeeeeee. im almost done with this semester and stuck with all this books i never even touch

P.S. I recommend a book to start practicing math until you start. It's probably about $10. It's called Math for Nurses (Kaplan). It will help you figure out where you're at in math, building upon a foundation and it's pretty easy to understand. Hope this helps!

Then click on "Calendars" to the left. Scroll down to "Reading List" and then you will see a link for "Book list". Above that, you will also see a link for "Reading Assignments" and what you do is look at the calendar (one of the top links on the calendar page) and you see what topics are on the first exam. You refer back to the reading assignment page and see what you have to read for that topic. Then so on and so forth for the 2nd exam and 3rd exam. That same reading assignment page is used for Nursing Process 2, but you will have to refer to the NP2 calendar. Even though these are for the class that starts in Jan, it will give you a little idea for May. However, there are only 6 weeks as opposed to 8, so you will cover more in each lecture then is on the current calendar. For May, I absolutely recommend reading ahead. The first test has nearly 700 pages of reading which is a lot when its a regular semester let alone a shortened semester.
