  1. Do you think Broward College Pre's should have change or stayed the same?

      I like the credit change.
    • The preq's should have stayed the same.
    • I think it's great because it helps more students to become prepared for the nursing program.
    • This is just a setup for more students to fail and for the school to get more money out of us.
    • Doesn't matter

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm starting this thread for students looking to start(ing), and (or) finishing there pre's by spring of 2013 at Broward College. Also for those who are entering (or) looking to enter the Nursing Program in Fall 2013.

We are exactly one year away from this program. So tell me what classes are you taking or have left?

I have Fall Math Intermediate, A&P II lab only, and Computers (need 6 credits to get loans.) Winter College Algebra or Statistics and Chem 1032& Chem lab

Summer Microbiology and Micro Lab.

Yesterday I visted advisement at South, and when I was leaving I got a wake up call that now I will only live, eat, breath nursing school. I never felt this way before. Once me and my advisor went over my Education Plan I started to feel that school going to get harder. :idea: Hey I can do this and so can you.

** Let me know your thoughts guys. Until....

Hey Juliansmom, am thinking of taking the hesi after spring break am freaking out!!! How about you ? Am also doing chemistry , is there anyone here that just finished chemistry in the fall that had registered for mastering chemistry .
I know how you feel...I am thinking about taking the exam around spring break as well. As for Chemistry, I completed it a few yours ago at another school.

Hey Schatziali, I took Chemistry in the fall and had to register with Mastering Chemistry.

And I am also thinking about taking the HESI after spring break.

Hey everyone, I finally registered for the HESI for Saturday April 6th at 9am. I downloaded a book on my kindle that has three HESI practice exams, when I took the A&P it was surprising to me the questions they had on there..I am a little nervous as to what the test will ask on this subject because it's so broad. Vocab,grammar and reading comprehension wasn't a problem..however I looked over the math section and it's all percents and conversions...kill me now. I am so nervous!!! So far I have:

BSC2085= A

BSC2086= A

BSC2085L= B

BSC2086L= B

ENC1101= A

and currently taking the CHM1032 online ..I am hoping for an A :wideyed: I am also registering without the Micro and will worry about that once I get in...if i do that is. I have no idea who and what I am up against..good luck to all and hope to be meeting some of you in August !

Hello,

As for the Micro course, when do you plan to have it completed? I thought this was the new requirement for the August 2013 and beyond to have Micro completed. Maybe I'm wrong.

I spoke with an advisor in January at the Pines Center and she said Micro is not a pre req- I know everyone is hearing different things however I am still applying without it and taking my chances. I plan to take Micro in the summer...possibly at Palm Beach because they offer it online . I want to see what kind of class Broward offers for Micro. I am just wondering at this point if the MAC1105 is needed now because I am currently in MAT1033 which is intermediate algebra and I am thinking of possibly dropping. I know I can't take college algebra or statistics without it though and if Broward plans to add the algebra to the list I am screwed. My teacher is SO HARD. But check with an advisor again about the Micro..it's so annoying how everyone is being told something different it's like we cant even trust advisors now !

Freaking Out!!! Taking HESI test tomorrow. Does anyone know if they still go by the point system & give points for HOSA? Thanks...Best of luck to anyone who reads this!

Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

Juliansmom...Thanks for asking.. relieved HESI is over....now let the games begin! It went pretty well...91% overall. Hope it's good enough!?!?!? Have you taken it yet?

Wow that was quick; and yes that is a very good score. No I have not taken the Hesi yet; and I plan to during the break. Can you share your insight and your overall experience when taking the exam? How was the vocabulary section? What tools did you use in preparing yourself for the the exam. Thanks a bunch for the information...Also, did you meet the hesi requirements for each section?

Wow dying2bRN, I think 91% overall is great!! Good for you :up: Like Juliansmom asked please share your insight about the exam. How was the vocabulary section? Where there a lot of conversions to do? I plan to study during spring break and take the HESI soon after spring break ends but I'm sooooo nervous.

Thanks in advance!

March 1 is when the admission cycle begins for us to submit our application. Can you apply and send the supporting documents (resent transcript and Hesi score) once the semester ends?

To quickly answer a few of your questions, the only guide I used was the Evolve HESI exam review which I ordered a few months ago from Amazon. I found it to be quite helpful. I also took a few Quizlet exams online, but that was about it. I wanted to prepare more, but I was anxious to get this over with to see where I stand! lol They give you 4 hours to complete the test, which is a sufficient amount of time. I found the Vocab section to be the toughest of all..but I guess it is different for each individual. For example, I only got an 86% :( and my friend got a 92%. But on the Grammar section I received a 100% :) and my friend got a 87%. I hope my overall 91.20% will be enough...All my requirements are finished. FutureNurse & Juliansmom, have you finished the pre-req's? If anyone is planning on turning in their application this Fri. March 1st, don't, because Health Admission is closed on Friday. In fact, they told me they will be closed for spring Break until March 11th when school resumes. Juliansmmom2011--- No you can not send documents separate. You need to hand in a sealed transcript to admissions, & attach a copy of your HESI scores to your application. I am not sure if they still accept HOSA certificates, but I will attach mine anyways, just in case. FuturenNurseS.brown...there were a few conversions like how many ounces in 6 pints, but nothing too crazy. There were also a few questions about military time. If you study and if you did well in A&P, then you should have no problems with this test. Well time to study for a midterm tomorrow...Not sure if I was of any help to you, but best of luck!!!
