  1. Do you think Broward College Pre's should have change or stayed the same?

    • 0
      I like the credit change.
    • The preq's should have stayed the same.
    • I think it's great because it helps more students to become prepared for the nursing program.
    • This is just a setup for more students to fail and for the school to get more money out of us.
    • Doesn't matter

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm starting this thread for students looking to start(ing), and (or) finishing there pre's by spring of 2013 at Broward College. Also for those who are entering (or) looking to enter the Nursing Program in Fall 2013.

We are exactly one year away from this program. So tell me what classes are you taking or have left?

I have Fall Math Intermediate, A&P II lab only, and Computers (need 6 credits to get loans.) Winter College Algebra or Statistics and Chem 1032& Chem lab

Summer Microbiology and Micro Lab.

Yesterday I visted advisement at South, and when I was leaving I got a wake up call that now I will only live, eat, breath nursing school. I never felt this way before. Once me and my advisor went over my Education Plan I started to feel that school going to get harder. Hey I can do this and so can you.

** Let me know your thoughts guys. Until....

I found this on BC site under frequently asked questions "HESI"

Well this is good info, & I feel better now. Geesh...

11. Can the test be retaken?

Yes. Re-test is permitted after the initial unsuccessful testing result with an additional cost for the test applied for every attempt. However, as of August 2013 will have a limit of only two (2) attempts for the HESI Test with six (6) months between the first and second attempt. The second attempt requires the HESI A2, Version 2.

^^^^Therefore, get to studying because as of August 2013 the above applies. Remember to make a study schedule.

They updated the Current Health Science Prerequisite and Selection Criteria. The policy was just lifted yesterday (effective immediately), so they might have not updated the BC site. i took my HESI yesterday and applied same day.

For

January and May 2013

applicants

:

selection for admission is based on students with the highest HESI scores ,HCP0001,and highest prerequisite GPA.

HESI cut scores are: reading 85%; vocabulary 80%; grammar 80%; math 80%; anatomy & physiology 80%.

For August 2013 applicants and beyond:there is a limit of only two (2) attempts for the HESI Test (version 2 of the exam is to taken on the second attempt). Selected candidates must not have enrolled more than two times in each of the Human Anatomy & Physiology (BSC 2085/85L, 2086/86L) courses.

I would love to attend BC North, but the lady from Health Science told me I cannot choose and it will be depend on the school? Anyone have any idea if we can choose?

I didn't know this, I thought the student had the right to choose which campus he/ she wanted to attend.

Hello everyone. I applied for Fall 2013 semester with 3.6 science gpa and 88% Hesi. I am not sure if I would get accepted with that stats. I submitted my application on the very last day. I am very anxious about changing career. Reading about broward failing rate terrifies me lol Is it true that miami dade college have a higher retention rate than Broward?

I just check my application status and its updated to denied pending approval. Does it mean I'm denied admission? I was awarded 13 points plus 1.

Hey Christine_MBA... Any updates? I'm not sure why it would say denied.. are you sure you have all the correct pre-reqs, gpa, and hesi scores? Maybe since you took the your second attempt on the day they made the change that there is some confusion amongst the staff?? Also.. I have heard that happening to people who got the 5pts for HOSA (i think thats what its called).. and later it clears up.

Hello Cathydotcom. No updates yet same status denied-pending depart approval. Someone told me they might be checking/waiting for my Healthcare core approval since I completed it from Sheridan. How about you? Any updates?

3 more weeks till we find out, but who's counting? lol Is anyone else as nervous/excited/worried as I am? Good luck to all. Enjoy your Memorial Weekend!!! :)
