  1. Do you think Broward College Pre's should have change or stayed the same?

      I like the credit change.
    • The preq's should have stayed the same.
    • I think it's great because it helps more students to become prepared for the nursing program.
    • This is just a setup for more students to fail and for the school to get more money out of us.
    • Doesn't matter

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm starting this thread for students looking to start(ing), and (or) finishing there pre's by spring of 2013 at Broward College. Also for those who are entering (or) looking to enter the Nursing Program in Fall 2013.

We are exactly one year away from this program. So tell me what classes are you taking or have left?

I have Fall Math Intermediate, A&P II lab only, and Computers (need 6 credits to get loans.) Winter College Algebra or Statistics and Chem 1032& Chem lab

Summer Microbiology and Micro Lab.

Yesterday I visted advisement at South, and when I was leaving I got a wake up call that now I will only live, eat, breath nursing school. I never felt this way before. Once me and my advisor went over my Education Plan I started to feel that school going to get harder. Hey I can do this and so can you.

** Let me know your thoughts guys. Until....

@ alokiheath, maybe you've already taken a course in place of PSY2012, to fulfill the social behavior requirement.

Just wanted to say I pass Chemistry. Yes..... Micro is my only class left before I apply to the program.

Hi all! just read up on all of your comments... I am also applying for Fall 2013. I just took the hesi today, I was pretty nervous, mostly about the A&P and the Vocab (from what I read on here lol) but I ended up with a 90% on vocab and 84% on A&P (phew!!). My overall was a 90% and my science GPA is a 3.36 :nailbiting:. I mostly just used the Evolve review book from the bookstore and despite what I've read on other forums it helped more than I was expecting it to. I took A&P and the labs a few years ago so I didn't even know where to begin studying the entire human body but it did help me a lot and I would say that if you use the book and your own A&P notes from class, if you have them, you should be fine. I'm also applying to miami dade's accelerated and generic programs but they require the TEAS test, which you can take 2x within a year but only have to wait 30 days in between tests. Needless to say, the TEAS was a LOT harder than the hesi and I did poorly on my first attempt but when I went to register to take it again all of the test dates were sold out! mdc makes you take the teas at their medical campus if you are applying to any of their health science programs so I was pretty much SOL as far as that went. I still applied with the scores I had but I'm trying to keep my options open and apply to as many programs as possible. I'm hoping I have a good chance at BC since they just recently changed the pre-reqs. I just finished micro & the lab these past 2 semesters and got an A in both at MDC...I have heard that it is harder at BC though, maybe some of you could check into taking the class there. Anyways Im rambling here but does anybody know exactly how BC determines selection for the program? also anybody thinking about applying for the online program or know if you can apply to both?

Hi tmd930 congrats on the HESI and it is good to keep your options open...I'm not sure that they even do the online program anymore but I would call in to double check. I will be taking the HESI on Friday and feel somewhat confident, but form what what I have read here I am not sure about the vocab..any pointers? How much of the vocal from the study book was on the test?

Congrats Fearless Leader!!! You should have no problem with Micro...Best of Luck!!! :)

Alokihealth...Good Luck on the Hesi Friday...Let us know how it went...:)

Hey guys! Just applied yesterday for August 2013! Good luck to all of those who have/will apply too! I hope to be sharing glee with you guys soon!

Congrats Tmd940

Questions guys what General Math Requirement did you take? I took Mac1105. However a friend told me I needed Statistics to apply to the program. I never heard or seen that ever.... Comments please.

You don't need Statistics to apply to the ADN program, Stat's is required for the BSN program. However if a student chooses to just skip MAC1105, and complete Stat's they will take that as the math requirement for both ADN and BSN programs. Or they can do both math courses, I hope I didn't confuse anyone, here's an example: let's say a student is completing his/ her pre-req's for the ADN program. He/ she took MAC1105 but passed with a "B", if the student isn't satisfied with his/ her GPA they can take STA2023 (I believe this is the course code), and get the "A" needed to bring up their GPA.

I also took MAC1105 for the math requirement.
